I spent four nights at Caesars Palace during the Christmas holiday (Dec. 23-26 2005). I booked a package that included an upgraded room (Palace Tower) and a $25 gift debit card. I was assigned room # 2731 in the Palace Tower which is considered a mid-grade room. My room was over 500 square foot and came with a king sized bed with down duvet and a marble bathroom with a two person soaking tub. According to the bellman who checked us in, the rooms on the 27th floor had just been renovated and our room was in excellent condition. The room had new carpet and a fresh interior. Our room looked out over the parking lot so please book an even numbered room if you prefer a pool view.
Now for the problems. Within five minutes of checking in our room the half door that covers the heating vent fell of its hinge. A call to housekeeping corrected the problem almost immediately. Several days later we woke up to a room without hot water. That morning numerous guests were complaining in the elevator about the lack of hot water in their rooms. The problem was fixed later that day.
When I eventually checked out of the hotel I mentioned our problems to the front desk agent. She said she could do nothing for us. I replied: "Wrong answer!" The front desk manager did do the right thing and gave us a $50 breakfast comp to the Augustus Cafe.
I did dine at the Palm Steakhouse and had a good meal with great service. Our server even waived the corkage fee on two bottles of collectible California Cabernet I had brought from my cellar. Yes, he got a large tip for that. I also had tickets to the Jerry Seinfeld Show which were expensive and he was funny. Be aware that about 40% of his stand-up routine I had heard several years earlier at a different venue.
Overall I enjoyed my stay at Caesars. To their credit when a problem arose they took care of it to my satisfaction. As a previous guest noted, once you check in to Caesars you're on your own to have a good time.
