This is a great hotel for the price. Granted it is nice to stay on the strip but the weekend we went the cheapest room on the Strip was $250 vs. $100 for this hotel. The cab ride was only $7 to the Flamingo or MGM or you can run across the street to the Hard Rock. The rooms are big with a separate bedroom which is nice when you have a group of friends plus a couch, 2 chairs, fridge, etc.

I stayed for 5 nights during Smokeout, a gay men's cigar event.

The Alexis is a former condo complex consisting of numerous small "blocks" around a central courtyard with green spaces and several pools.

We had a double suite, two beds and a huge living area, plus kitchenette. Very spacious and very clean.

Despite being part of a large group which booked a large number rooms, I felt that service was a little lacking. Case in point: at check-in, I requested two items for my room: a sharps container for syringes (I take an injectable medication), and a supply of extra sugar packets for in-room coffee as I find there are never more than one or two.
At the hotel where I work, these two requests would be dealt with at check-in, and likely arrive at the room as soon as the guest. However, the response I got can be paraphrased as "er,,,umm....well...maybe you could ask the restaurant....it's closed now but if you come back when they are open...." Similarly the sharps container seemed to be such a difficult request to meet the front desk really would have preferred I just not press the point.
Despite two phone calls to maintenance, neither TV in the suite worked throughout our stay, nor did the drain in the bathroom sink.
Internet was cumbersome, expensive (whether in-room or at the business centre) and involved spending a lot of time under the desk dealing with a slipshod assemblage of wires, routers and zip ties. Even after paying for a cord and internet service, we weren't able to hook up in our suite.

The killer for me, however, was the response I got to my comment when I checked out. As mentioned before, I was here for a cigar meet, and was lucky enough to get a smoking room; however, many of the attendees did not, despite having had their smoking preference confirmed in advance. (C'mon, people - it's a smoking event - guys want to smoke in their rooms - pretty much the whole point in being there).

I mentioned this to the manager who was checking me out, and he said basically that since "there were a lot of problems" this year, next year smoking rooms would be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis (meaning first to check in). The "problems" he was referring to weren't errors with reservations; it was all these guys who insisted on a smoking preference (which is in low demand these days anyway and the more so given the falling occupancy rates in Vegas hotels).

Again, I work front desk in a hotel, and I know you don't want to confirm exact rooms or features too far in advance. But smoking preference and bedding should always be confirmed. Smokeout books a large block of rooms at the Alexis every year, and every year, according to other attendees, requests that are confirmed in advance are not delivered at check-in. Had I not been there for Smokeout - or had I, like some of the other attendees, not received my requested smoking room, and been at the end of the hotel where the rest of the group was gathered - I would have been sorely disappointed. As it stands, I felt the effort made towards meeting even simple requests was lacking, and a group of our size - which returns yearly - certainly deserved better.

Dear YVR: We regret that we left a less than satisfactory impression of certain of our services during "smokeout's" most recent visit. We love "Smokeout" and I am happy to celebrate your return to the Alexis Park for your next event. Unfortunately, we cannot offer smoking accommodations to all the attendees and many in the predicament of being provided non smoking rooms understood and cooperated willingly with us. As you are aware, your events take place at our Pool 3, in the outdoors, and the fun events were held in the smoking suites of fellow "Smokeout" celebrants! As you are in the business of hospitality I would not need to inform you that the average cost of reconditioning a non smoking room is in the region of $250.00. Again, we look forward to having you return in the very near future. Patrick.

We were attending an event at the hotel and on checking in we were advised "in no uncertain terms" that a smoking room was not available; although confirmed at the time of booking. As they say .... first impressions count!

Other points to note:
1) The hotel is in need of some renovation and the quality of the rooms are not the best; although the size of the room we received was large.
2) We found a majority of the staff to be rude and misserable.
3) Swimming pools lacking facilities and tiles missing.
4) A good 20 minute walk to the "strip" in LV
5) Issues with the in-room broadband - had to purchase cable for $5 for it to work and it is $5/p day for access

Better hotels on the strip for the same amount of money; wouldn't stay again.

Dear cbrsporty: Thank you for noting the large size of our suites - the largest suites of any non-gaming hotel in LV. We agree that an upgrade/remodel would be good - your's truly is working on the project and I hope to have some wonderful news momentarily! Our staff were distressed to learn of your description of them as "rude and miserable". We regret that you were left with that impression. I am pleased to report that our internet and cable TV programming were recently upgraded to the most technologically, cutting edge of systems. We apologize that you were forced to endure the services of our ex-provider. Please come back to the Alexis Park! Call me when making your arrangements. Patrick.

Alexis Park is not the newest or fanciest hotel in LV, but it is comfortable and clean. The staff was helpful and professional when we arrived late on a Saturday night. My travelling companions and I had separately reserved three rooms and wanted them to be in the same building as well as close to the conference meeting rooms. This is a big hotel complex, so that was important to us both for security and convenience. When the manager couldn't find us three adjacent non-smoking king rooms right next to the meeting rooms, he offered us rooms in a smoking building and had a bell man take us to them to do a "sniff test". The rooms were all clean, smoke free and in the closest building. He offered to let us move the next day after the preceding conference had checked out, but after one night we were happy to stay where we were. If you want swinging night life, the Hard Rock is across the street and the strip is a short taxi ride away. Personally, I preferred the privacy and security of staying in a hotel that is not also a tourist attraction. The bar had a good happy hour and reasonable prices the rest of the time, the pool areas were pretty and the doorman easily whistled down taxis for us when we wanted to go out. I left a note for the maid asking for extra decaf coffee, she left enough for a week; when one of my companions had trouble with her shower, maintenance was there in minutes. The hair salon and "spa" are tiny, and certainly not spa-like, but the massage and pedicure we had were excellent. All the rooms at Alexis Park are suites and a great value for LV.

Thank you for your very kind words of encouragement for all our staff.
We appreciate your leaving that "weeks worth" of coffee! You certainly had an opportunity to discover all that Las Vegas has to offer, including the Alexis Park. Thank you.

I was duped into staying at Alexis Park when I booked my travel through Summer Bay resorts. I stayed for $15.00, and basically got my monies worth. The room was sub par, and we had to walk 7 minutes to get there with our bags. The heat and A/C didn't work when we got to the room and by the time we left two days later (to go to the Bellagio) it still wasn't working.

This might work for a family who is trying to save some money, but that is about it. It is not on the strip, but it is close. If you don't have a car, prepare to cab it. The Hard Rock is right next door if you are looking for something to do at night, because Alex Park is pretty much like a retirement home.

  • Liked — The pools were nice.
  • Disliked — Everything else was pretty bad.
