“Not As Bad As Expected”

In glancing at some of the reviews from here, I was very skeptical as to whether or not I would stay here once we got to Las Vegas. I was surprised to find the hotel was not as bad as what I thought it would be. Pros: The room was clean. No dust, no trash found that wasn't ours, etc. There was not a long wait for the elevators. We received a no smoking room as requested.

Cons: The sink 'gurgled' all night. It was not stopped up, it just made weird sounds (old building, I guess.) You could not hear it when outside of the restroom, but it was a bit disconcerting when inside the restroom. The water pressure was not very strong at all.

The housekeeper forgot to put a pillowcase on the extra pillow. There were a couple of questionable (chocolate?) stains on the chair in our room. It looked as though someone dropped some pieces of chocolate on the chair and they melted and had not been cleaned off. There was a small stain on the corner of the top sheet on my side. Looked like make-up, but could tell the sheet had been washed.

Overall, I would stay here again. I am a pretty picky person and was geared for it to be WAY worse than it was.

I just came back from a weekend stay at the Fitz with 4 friends and we had a great time. We checked in on Friday at 12:30p.m. and were given a room right away. The room was a clean, good size room(can't complain since it was comped) and the AC worked PERFECT! The elevators were a little slow, but we didn't care. We could wait 5 minutes without crying over an out of work elevator. The casino was kicking and we made so much noise, even we were surprised that security wasn't called on us. I would definately stay here again(even if I have to pay for the room)!

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — The clean room and the friendly staff who checked us in at 12:30p.m.
    • Disliked — Two elevators were broken, so you might have to wait up to 5 minutes!(who cares?)

I got a very good deal on this room, $30 a night for Thursday through Sunday nights plus $75 in free gas from Expedia. You do the math--very, very inexpensive.

The room was nothing special, but nice. A lot like a Super 8 Motel, very clean and everything worked. The staff was friendly enough. The pool was nothing special, but it does the job. It's probably the best pool downtown next to the Gold Nugget, but that's not saying much. The casino was nice and dealers were friendly.

One highlight was the Vue bar. Their outside patio overlooking the Fremont street experience is a very nice place to sit and people-watch, and drinks are inexpensive, especially the draft beer. They also have pitchers, which is nice.

One tiny gripe--they're using too much of the piped-in scent in the casino and hotel, not a bad smell, but phew, a little strong.

“Great to Crash and if you want to feel super sexy!”

We needed a placed to crash before heading into out Vegas adventure full speed ahead..which the Palazzo wouldn't allow until 3pm :) (see review)

So LawyerGirl had wanted to go to downtown and I figured this was my quick way to get it out of her system to go on to grander places...

It took like 15 minutes to get to the top of their parking structure but I remember that Fritz had some good customer service so I decided we'd sleep there...We caught a pretty sunrise and knew it was going to be hot hot hot

Basic Room for 50ish ...we could hear all the maid knocking around but the manager was cool and told us we could have late late check out...2pm

On the bright side when we walked around later We looked SUPER SEXY compared to everyone else around us..we even started getting hit on in the elevator...but we are early 30's and beat the median age by like 30 years.

The downtown location sucks during the day, much better than night..not much fine dining unless you consider a buffet so...The hotel is next to Wal greens which was nice becuase we got the incidentals out of the way before the rest of the trip

As my friend mentioned we waited at least 10 minutes for their 1 over worked 102 year old bellman to show up..I tried to lift the bag FOR him...Some woman had been waiting longer than us..
I asked the VIP guys in their special office if we could get some help...but they said NO, just WAIT......maybe if I hadn't been waiting I would of played some slots and given them some of my money...dummies

FINAL NOTE: Do not BRING your lap top...THey have a tiny wall safe..nothing to keep your laptop safe if it is a necessity for you

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — cheap, clean, easy to get to NEAR Walgreens
    • Disliked — big parking structure and no laptop safe, not enough bellman help

My girl friend and I drove into Vegas for our "Let it all Hang Out" mini vacation of sorts. We had reservations at the Palazzo Hotel and Casino (see review), however we drove all night, arriving in Vegas at 630am and desperately needed sleep. Unfortunately, The Palazzo was unable to get us into our room until 3pm and I could not wait as I hadnt slept in about 30 hours.

It was PulgaDelMundo's (another avid TripAvisor reviewer) grand idea to stay at Fitzgeralds. I could care less as my eyes were begining to roll back in my head. We scored in that we were able to check in at 630am and check out at 2pm for 50 bucks! We waited for the elevator for awhile. So long that I opted to start playing some video slots near the elevator hallway. We made it up to our room, two double beds, I washed my face in the old school looking sink and slid between the sheets and was out like a light. PulgaDelMundo, called and asked for a wake-up call and she hit the sack too. The call came in and we were up. This is where my recallection really begins because I could have really cared less before my little nap.

The bed was hard and obviously old. The linens were clean, thankfully. The room was definately dated, I would say the last time it had been remodelled was around 1984. Ha Ha. Honestly, I didnt care. You're in Vegas, you arent supposed to be in your room! The bathroom was a nice size, big enough for two girthy chicks to move around in. Everything seemed to be fresh and clean in that bathroom.

We packed up what we had taken up to the room and headed for the elevator. Again, the elevator was taking For-ev-er. At one point I was wondering if the elevator was broken.

Once we got down to the Casino level we decided that we were going to check our luggage and go do some shopping on Freemont Street. We waited for about 10 minutes for the Bellman to check our luggage. I felt bad for the poor guy because he seemed to be about 102 years old. We did our shopping came back and I waited about 10 more minutes to uncheck our luggage while Pulga went to get the car.

Its an old place. You get what you pay for and if you expect the Bellagio at this price, you have lost your mind. What I have gathered from reading these reviews is that everyone has their own taste when looking for a hotel. I wasnt impressed, but I also wasnt displeased by the experience. Would I go back, probably not. But, I would recommend it for a budget travelor.
