Our family booked accommodation in this hotel in April 2008 and were quoted a rate of $49.00 for the Sunday but on arrival at check in the rate was $99.00 a big surprise. We went to the casino host area and all they could do was monitor our casino play and perhaps give us a break on checkout of all the room charges. This added pressure to a relaxing trip time planned with family but the price did work out in the end with a final price of $32.00 plus tax.

My only point is (told to me by the casino rep) Always know who booked your stay if you're not able to get a written price confirmation. Get a name of the person doing the booking if you deal direct with the hotel.

We have stayed at the Fitz many many times and have always felt it was adequate because we are usually comped. I must say this time that the room was sub-par and had I been paying I would have asked for another room.
Carpet was nassssssssssty ....furniture was run down, maid service was bare minimum, jacuzzi tub did not work, plumbing was weak and the tub drain was slow.
I know the place is not the Wynn and am used to the skinny towels and skinny pillows and the cheapo furnishings but I do NOT like it not being clean and fresh.
We are going back in June...if things aren't better I am gonna start looking for a new place to stay.
BIG Disappointment.

This was my first stay at the Fitz and my first stay in the Fremont St. area. My room was fine, and the maid service was good. Unlike others, I had no elevator problems. The buffet the first nite was adequate, and I had clipped a coupon in my arrival book which made the price better. Motel staff was corteous to me.
I did find the casino to be a bit smokey, but I find many to be that way, as I am a non-smoking asthmatic. They did provide me with a non-smoking room. I think Atlantic City will soon be totally smoke free, and I can't wait for that to happen nationwide.
If you are expecting total luxury accomodations, this isn't it, but you are not paying for it, either. On the other hands, the rooms compare to any standard motel and are a good value....I had all that I needed, including hairdryer and iron/ironing board......the room was clean, comfortable, and I had a nice view.
I like the whole Fremont street thing....old Vegas....the gambling (and everything) is cheaper, you can get around very fast, etc.....I actually think you get a more "down home/down to earth" feeling there than the extravagance of the strip.
I would go back to the Fitz, and as long as Fremont Street is offering better deals, there is a good chance I will stay there again.

“Fitzgerald's on Fremont Street - NOT close to strip”

Fitzgeralds Casino & Hotel

First, we will NOT be staying here ever again.

We reserved our trip and room five months in advance for a king size bed and received a room with double beds because they said, "reservations are requests," with no guarantee that you will get what you reserved. VERY BAD first impression. The guy checking us in didn't even make eye contact with us. We complained twice before getting a king bed the next day. We had to switch rooms and had to wait on them to switch.

Our room was average, very few TV channels, small TV, cheap furniture. The bed was pretty comfortable, but the A/C was loud and didn't work very well. The bathroom was average size and the water pressure is good, but the wall paper was pealing off and the shower head was loose and coming out of the wall. The housekeeping was average, but the second night we noticed a shortcut taken. They put a full size bed sheet across the king bed sideways instead of getting a king size fitted bed sheet. This is a bad sign!

Parking is free, access the self-parking garage from the rear (3rd St.), just write your name and room number on the ticket and you'll never pay for parking. Otherwise, I think it's $1.50/hr.

Some of the buttons didn't work on the old phone and there were no maps of the casino telling you where anything was.

Fremont St. is pretty neat with shopping and access to the other casino's within a short walk. There is McDonalds and Krispy Kreme donuts in the Fitzgerald's, and Dunkin Donuts in Four Queens. We didn't eat at the casino restaurants, but they looked ok.

The Fitzgerald's, and the rest of downtown, is a long way from the Strip. You shouldn't walk it. It's too far, plus it's not safe walking around downtown outside the safety of the casino's. If you do go to the Strip, park at the Excalibur, which is street level and free parking, and it's a short walk to the rest of the Strip.

The dealers at the casino are friendly and never felt crowded during the week. Traffic is horrendous on the Strip and especially bad in the morning and afternoon from 3-6pm because thousands of workers need to get to work in a few block radius. You don't need a car, just use the casino shuttles.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — not crowded, easy access to other casino's on Freemont St.
    • Disliked — Check in, reservations

We stayed at The Fitzgerald Hotel on Freemont Street from 3/16-3-20. Have stayed there the past 3 times and this was the worst! Bed was horrible; had to call 3 days, several times a day, to get a hair dryer in the room. Towels were paper thin, room was just run down and OLD. Management really acted like they could care less as far as our satisfaction went. Have usually had great rooms and great prices for the rooms. Liked the fact that we were so close to so many casinos and could just walk a few feet to go to another casino. Think we will end our streak of staying at the Fitz. Prices were just not worth the sleepless nights and backaches we put up with.
