Booked trip with Virgin holidays; flight from UK London Gatwick..delayed by a few hours.
Flight staff were more interested in talking about what they were going to do when they got there rather than service the passengers..plus they looked in the most part like they had just left school and should be with an adult. Food was BAD, one glass of water was offered the whole trip, plus i got 1 can of drink the size of a mixer, pressing the buzzer was pointless and when people started to queue down the aisle for water they put on the seatbelt sign and made everyone sit down...
Was VERY glad to get off the flight. HOWEVER this is not about the flight unless your from the UK..
So onto Vegas..
On arrival Virgin Holiday rep made us queue up for 5 mins then gave us a letter explaining all about the welcome meeting which we always avoid..we were then told to get a cab as they didnt do transfers, waste of time that was..Cab to the hotel was easy to sort out, a short (avoid the tunnel) trip later we arrived.
Like many others we assumed the 4 seasons was a hotel alongside the Mandalay bay...well its not its the 5 floors ABOVE it..??!!
We were welcomed in a warn friendly way, helped with bags and were made to feel special.. Check in was fast, we were offered a bigger room at $175 a night more but declined.
We were taken straight to the room and it was ready, but then we did arrive 4 hours late..
We have stayed at several of the best hotels in Vegas and this has the edge on being smaller, friendlier and generally MUCH BETTER than any of the others. The only other hotel which I would ever consider would be the Venetian which has much larger rooms..
The Four Seasons has its own entrance, no casino, it's own pool, etc., but guests have access to all of Mandalay Bay's amenities.
It has a spa and a restaurant which we ate in and found to be very good.
A private lift to the Casino gave access to the Mandalay bay and all the shops..
My wife says that although the shops were very similar to each other in the hotels Caesars palace were the best.
Getting around..
There is a train that goes to the Luxor and Excalibur.
From the Excalibur cross over to the New York then to the MGM via the a couple of walk ways over the roads. From the MGM there is another train that goes the length of the strip and right to the convention centres. This train you have to pay for and its worth getting a pass.
I would like to point out that our room at the 4 seasons was SPOTLESS, the room was cleaned every day, clothes that we left out were folded...The bathroom stock of shampoo etc was added to every day and we had loads of towels.
We ordered room service twice, it was on time, hot and good, plus not expensive..frankly the 4 seasons is a place where you can have a lovely quiet, relaxing holiday...trust me you notice it when you open the door to the Mandalay bay and see and hear the difference.
checkout was fast, no queue at all..taxi to airport simple..
Decided to get a burger in the airport and so not rely on the flight food, just as well I did...it looked like a bowl of cat sick in a tin tray, it was probably the worst food I have had on a flight since a trip to Larnaca with Cyprus Air.
All in all, hated the flight...everything about it, seats, food, staff everything...however we loved the hotel and would happily stay here again...but next time fly with BA and AA ..
