After reading many glowing recommendations about this walking tour I booked it and can honestly say that it was worth every penny. The company only takes a max of 10 people on each tour so you don't spend ages waiting for tons of people to get back on the bus! Our trip started with a prompt pick up at our hotel by Alphonso in an air conditioned mini bus which was spacious and very comfortable. We headed off to Boulder City for breakfast at McDonalds where we told to order whatever we wanted ( included in the cost of the tour ) we then stopped at Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam for photos. From there we headed off on the long drive to the Grand Canyon ( with stops for restroom breaks ) - although it is a long drive Alphonso kept us all entertained with information and pointing out various landmarks along the way.We also stopped on Route 66 for a short time - long enough to stretch your legs and buy a few souvenirs etc.
The Grand Canyon is truly spectacular - well worth the long journey - Alphonso was a great guide - always ensuring that everyone was happy and taking photos for all of us.The walk itself is done at a leisurely pace so you don't need to be an Olympic athelete to do it - we had a great picnic lunch ( supplied by the company - HUGE deli sandwich, grapes, cheese and cookies ) at a really scenic spot. Alphonso knew all the best spots for great views and photos. I would recommend this trip to anyone who wants to avoid the huge mass crowds - you really do get to see much more if you are walking with an experienced guide - you also get a chance to chat to the other people on your trip ( Hi to the Texas 3 and South Carolina 4 !!! ) which makes it more fun.
Well done Grand Adventures - a really memorable day out and great value for money!
