I've stayed at the Treasure Island several times and was always happy. However, a few years ago they re-branded the hotel as the "TI" and tried to sell to young adults rather than families. As part of this they took down the cool skull and crossbones sign and "upgraded" the original pirate battle to the new show "Sirens of TI".
Whereas the original pirate battle was fun and entertaining, "Sirens" is just about the worst show imaginable - cheesy and stupid. After reading reviews I didn't even bother to watch it on our last trip, but reluctantly decided to give it a try this trip. Sure enough the show is bad. Very bad.
The premise is that a ship full of sirens lure pirates aboard their ship with their singing and dancing. Yes, it's as bad as it sounds. It's obvious that some marketing guy in a suit thought it would be a good idea to have scantily clad women who dance around to popular music. Not really suitable for kids and not entertaining enough for adults. The only good part was one large fireball and a few fireworks.
I couldn't believe that a show this bad still had a large audience, but the place was packed. Since we were staying at the TI we got to stand in the roped off VIP area.
Stay away - It's not worth the time or the crowds.
