My husband and I just returned from two nights at the Signature at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. We booked two junior suites (our adult son also travelled with us) through the MGM website. We were there for corporate meetings that were held in the MGM hotel conference center and other participants stayed at the MGM itself. We paid $179/nite, which was about the convention rate everyone else was paying.
Though our cab driver from the airport was aware of the Signature, he had never pulled in, so it was helpful that I had printed directions from the website and we had no problems locating the hotel. We were immediately greeted by doormen and valets and found ourselves checked in and on our way to our suite in just a few short minutes. There had been a change in our son's reservation a month before arrival which resulted in it being cancelled - the front desk quickly found him the accomodations we had originally requested and worked quickly and efficiently with us to apply proper deposits to each room.
The rooms themselves are exactly what you see on the TA website. New, spotless, beyond stylish. Wonderful bed with beautiful linens and pillows, plenty of seating for several people, work desk, contemporary artwork and mirrors on the wall. Cordless phones and a dock for you IPod bedside. The bathroom is very large with double sinks, separate toilet room, glass enclosed shower and separate deep European soaking tub. Toiletries from the June Jacobs Spa Collection. Plentiful plush towels.
The kitchen area is quite a marvel. Beautiful woodwork wall that holds cabinets with pots, pans, dishes and silverware, even some basic measuring cups and spoons. Appliances include a flat two-burner stove, a microwave, sink, refrigerator, Cuisinart blender, toaster and coffee maker. The same unit houses a flat screen TV and a DVD player. Bottled water placed in the refrigerator each day. Oddly enough, the one thing we needed, but couldn't find, was a corkscrew for opening a wine bottle. That took a call to room service and a bit of a wait. Even the Concierge said he was baffled by that. In all honestly, I can't really imagine full on cooking in this ktichen area - it seems as if it would be more suited to rewarming food from last night's doggie bag, or for a fruit, cereal, coffee, yogurt kind of breakfast. But it is spectacular.
We didn't have the opportunity to use the pool or the fitness room, but both seemed in keeping with the stylishness of the hotel and weren't ever busy the time we were there. As other TA members have mentioned, the gift shop was only open now and again and Starbucks didn't open until 7:00 am. We did have drinks one night in the lounge across from the Starbucks and it was a nice, quiet oasis from lounges in the casino. Bar snacks were available.
The distance to the casino was about 7 minutes via the moving walkways from the hotel. Day or night, I traveled them alone and never questioned my safety. My husband's meetings were actually closer to the Signature than more of the other attendees who were in the Tower or the West Wing at the MGM Grand.
There is major construction occurring in the middle of the casino around the area of the Studio Cafe and the Grand Wok restaurant - I mean jackhammers during the day! Guarenteed to drive you away from that area.
Had dinner at Fiamma - excellent food and service. Saw Ka! and loved it.
Generally loved this hotel and will definitely stay here again. It was a quiet oasis (despite construction everywhere you looked)and has set high standards for hotel/condo developments occurring all over Las Vegas.
