We stayed at this hotel from October 16th-20th. From the moment we arrived, i was very pleased. The cab ride from the airport takes about 5 mins late at night and was around $11 before the tip. When you arrive, there is someone there to open the door for you. Once you get in the lobby, the smell of fresh roses is amazing! The lobby is absolutely beautiful! When we were assigned a room on the 3rd floor, we asked for a higher room with a balcony. The front desk was happy to accomidate us, and put us on the 17th floor with a strip-style view. Here are a few of my favorite things:
1. The bed. This has to be the most comfortable bed i have ever slept on. It feels like a big pillow.
2. Extra pillows in the closet, as well as a safe, and a pair of robes.
3. The Junior suite is described as having a 1-person jacuzzi. Im a big guy, and me and my wife fit in it easily. The shower is also nice. It is around 4-feet square and all glass.
My complaints are few, most are just minor annoyances. It is advertised as a non-smoking hotel, but its not. While there are no smoking in the rooms, there is smoking in the lobby and hallways. At least there was when we were there. After reading some of the other reviews about the long walk to the MGM Grand, we decided to time it ourselves. Walking at a decent pace, and walking on the moving walkways, it took a little over 2 1/2 minutes. This is very acceptable. Get ready to get slapped in the face by cigarrette smoke when you get near the MGM Casino.
We didn't use the workout room or pool. We did get charged the $15 a day resort charge. This is stupid if you ask me. They need to put that in the room fee and nobody would care. This charge was supposed to include wireless internet, 2 bottles of water a day, and access to the fitness area. When we got to the room, there was only 1 bottle of water in the fridge. We had to ask for water the 2nd day. We didn't get water the rest of our stay. I complained when we checked out and they refunded 2 days of the resort fee, which was nice.
NOW, here are some suggestions for your stay...
Ask for a higher room. There is a pretty good view of the Paris tower and some of the strip. The higher the better. The elevators are extremely fast. You'll feel it in your stomach. The restuarants in the MGM are fantastic. Make sure you go to Diego's if you like Mexican food, and Emeril's is awesome as well. If you go to Emeril's for lunch, MAKE SURE to ask for Leo. He works at Emeril's during the day and at Diego's at night. He is the best waiter i have ever had. He is a very friendly mexican man that takes very good care of you. Tell him the couple from Arkansas sent you, he'll probably remember us because he was our waiter 3 times. Make sure you leave him a good tip; it pays off. Our last visit, he gave us both a free drink, saving us about $20. Make sure you visit thte Lion Habitat more than once. Most of the time, the lions are asleep, but if they are up and walking around, it is really neat.
There is a deli counter right past the sports betting area. The food is alight, but the service was kinda rude. Save your money and eat somewhere else.
Another thing we learned on our first trip to Vegas last week. There are some real hard time-share sellers. If they ask you if you are married, tell them no. If they ask when your leaving, tell them 'tonight'. This will usually deter them. The worst by far was in the New York New York. We were hit-up at least 10 times just walking through. They will try to give you coupons....They are worthless, just tell them no, because if you take them, they try to lure you in.
Make good use of the Mono-rail. If you are going to be there for at least 4 days, get the unlimited pass. We didnt, and we could have saved at least $20.
Another thing to make good use of at the Signature is the Concierge. They will make your reservations for you, and Hey- Its Free! They have the 2nd hotel done on the outside and are about 1/2 done on the outside fo the 3rd tower. We did hear some noise from work vehicles, and it started early, but it wasn't that big of a deal.
There is a lot to do for free in Vegas, so take advantage. The Stratosphere is a must see at night. Tickets are $10 each, and the wait was around 10 minutes, but the night view was spectacular. Dont try to see everything in 4 days like we did. It is impossible, and you will kill yourself trying to do it. Thank god we had a jacuzzi.
One more thing...the toilettries (sp?) were fantastic. It is all June Jacobs stuff. The grapefruit body wash smells great, and all the lotions and soaps are wonderful. Some were griping about the gift shop. It was open almost everytime we went by. They aren't open late at night, but they are open all day. If you want a good buffet, take the monorail to the Flamingo. They have a huge buffet for $14. It is all good stuff too. Once you are done, walk out the dining room doors to the little park area. Its really pretty.
There is so much to write about, but i think this will give those who are looking for a hotel, or looking forward to their stay at the Signature a little heads up. Go ahead and get excited. That hotel is worth every penny.
