After reading many reviews for Vegas hotels on TripAdvisor, we ended up choosing The Signature at MGM Grand. Right away we realized that some units were rented out directly by the hotel, and some were owned like condos. However, it is still run exactly like a hotel (concierge, room service, front desk, daily cleaning, etc). We rented directly from a VRBO owner previously mentioned on this site- http://www.vrbo.com/117896. We saved quite a bit of money by doing this.

The hotel is simply gorgeous. It is gated, so it feels like a private resort far away from the craziness of the strip (but in reality if you walk through the gate and onto E. Harmon, it takes about 5 minutes to get to the strip & Planet Hollywood). The room was beautiful and immaculate. We had a view of the airport but could not hear anything. In fact, I didn't hear any noise the whole time I was there from other rooms. The room is exactly as it is pictures on the Signature website. Loved the bathroom with the shower and jetted tub! The bed was extremely comfortable, and we appreicated having the fridge to keep our water cool. Also, there was free internet and free local calls.

The Signature is connected to the MGM grand by a series of walkways (including moving sidewalks). Basically, you walk through the hallways, past the MGM grand pool complex, through all the MGM grand restaurants, through the MGM grand casino and finally out to the strip. If you want a hotel right in the middle of things, try the Bellagio. Or save money and just take a cab- that's what we did. Could go anywhere on the strip for $10, including tip.

Spent 1 afternoon at the MGM grand pool complex which is BEAUTIFUL. Loved the lazy river. Spend another afternoon at the pool next to our tower (each tower has its own pool). Also very enjoyable. There is a Starbucks in one tower and a small cafe in the other. We also rented a car directly from the hotel (more expensive, but also more convenient) and drove to Hoover Dam and Red Rock Canyon, which was great. I would recommend getting away from the strip at least once!

One issue I had- I called a 1-877 number (was actually trying to reach one of the hotels on the strip and couldn't find and local number) and stayed on the phone for about 30 seconds. Upon departure it was listed as a $10 charge! I must have had a look of shock on my face, because the front desk woman immediately said she would get it taken off and went to the back to get authorization to do so.

We avoided the $15/day resort fee by renting directly from the owner, and still got the water, paper and the room cleaned daily. We were informed before booking of a $25 fee upon checkout. The owner gave us her contact info and told us what to do if we were not satisfied with the cleaning. We were also reminded that since it is owned by someone (it's like their home, technically) anything we left in it would not be removed by housekeeping, such as food in the fridge. Nothing was there when we came in, and we did not leave anything except 2 dozen roses I had received as a present (I thought the next occupants would appreciate them!).

My advice: book directly from an owner and get an awesome 37th floor view! Plus save lots of money so you don't need to feel bad about taking a taxi sometimes.

My husband and I just stayed at the Signature for the second time and were not disappointed. The rooms are beautiful and the location is perfect. I can't believe we used to pay at least twice as much for a smaller room.

We stayed at this property from the 26th March for 10 nights. This was a special occasion so we wanted somewhere with a bit of luxury.

On arrival I requested a balcony and they offered Tower 3 room 31807. This is a corner room, junior suite.

I have to say this is our 3rd visit to Vegas and we are very fussy as we like a bit of luxury.

Just before we arrived I was having 2nd thoughts due to the bad reviews and also the location, as we were worried it was too far off the strip. I am so glad we did not change hotels as this was one of the best rooms we have ever stayed in.

Positives=

Very private and peaceful. I like to holiday without hearing doors banging and waking me up and noisy neighbours!!! The walls are so sound proofed and there was construction at the Planet Hollywood but we heard none of this.

Comfy bed, always a plus and nice balcony with views of the mountains and hotels on the strip.

Nice Jacuzzi-although if you are short a bit tricky to get out of!!!!

Nice tidy room with a good selection of kitchen utencils etc... and a bar.

Good housekeeping-never bothered us, 24 hrs housekeeping so they will work around you.

Helpful friendly staff

Negatives(not many)=

Our bedding was not changed and I like clean bedding! However I am sure if I had asked them they would have done this for me.

missed getting a newspaper for 5 days but they were very apologetic and waivered the resort fee for us.

The nearest store for basics eg drinks, snacks is just by the Harley Davidson cafe(nr Planet Hollywood) or inside the Miracle Mile but these are just small stores. I would say there are no major supermarkets nearby but you can order food online from Vons to be delivered.

My recommendations are:-

Tower 3 is nearest to the strip, you walk out the front of Tower 3, and cut through the Miracle mile shops at Planet Hollywood, we found that the quickest way(approx 10 min walk) . No pool at Tower 3, nearest Tower 2.

Tower 1 seemed popular with the party goers/younger crowds as its nearer to MGM but not that much nearer.

Tower 2 not much to say as didnt visit but it does have a pool.

To get to MGM you walk through a covered walkway, part of the way is on moving walkways. From Tower 3 it took us 10 mins, its really quite close. You get the best of both worlds as its nice to go back to some peace and quiet.

Well thats my review and I hope I havent gone on too long !!!

We stayed at the MGM Signature for a romantic birthday weekend, and it was very nice. If you're looking for a classy hotel that's not in the middle of the strip chaos (but still pretty close to the action), this is a great spot. The room was really nice for the rate we received. The staff was helpful and curteous. The pool area was nice although without as much action as the pools at some of the bigger hotels (this is fine by us!). Also -- it was great having a kitchenette. We made a stop at a local grocery store and bought snacks and continental breakfast items to have in the room. In all, we were very pleased with our stay in Tower 2. We would definitely stay here again. After experiencing the mega on-strip resorts a number of times, this was a really nice change of pace -- still has the flavor and essence of Vegas, close to the action, but a little smaller and quieter and without the smoke!

  • Liked — Quiet, clean, good value, nice room, close to strip but away from the chaos.

Me and my now wife stayed at the Signature before, during and after our wedding and found the hotel hit all the right notes in many respects. From the nice touch of a congratulatory card and flowers to the very helpful front desk staff the hotel made our stay a very relaxing one. As ever for us we never got a chance to use all the facitities of the Hotel but from what i could see they were all good. The only minus points i could think of was the usual point that the hotel is a bit of the strip and can take a little while to get to and from whether you go through the vast MGM complex or outside past the car parks etc, and also the Valet system can get a little tiring esp if you have a day of many comings and going. But these are small minus points and overall i can say its well worth the little extra cash for a spot of relaxed luxury.
