We recently spent 6 days at Red Rock. We are not gamblers or smokers so Vegas was not our first choice of places to visit but we had to go for business reasons.
We arrived on Saturday night. When we first went to our "non smoking room" it was very smokey smelling. Since it was late and we were tired we didn't complain. The next morning the maid apparantly spayed the room to try to clean it and it was better. We walked through the casino to find a restaurant and it was very very smokey and very crowded. My first impression was not good. I do have to say that things got better after that. It seems like Saturday night is the busiest night with the smoke and noise. The rest of the week we hardly noticed it.
ROOMS:
The rooms are big and comfy. The decor is very relaxing and we had a great view of the pool and the mountains in the background. Don't be fooled by the pictures on the website because you can see the mountains but they aren't as close as they look on the website. The pool area looks great at night when it's all lite up and it closes early so we didn't get any noise. The beds are very comfy (even better than the famous 4 Seasons beds) complete with lots of pillows and down duvets. The bathroom is amazing with the deep soaker tub and tv.
SPA:
Most people don't realize that the spa has many free things for the hotels guests. The exercise room with lots of very good equipment and a boxing ring, lockers and showers, a lap pool, hot tub/whirlpool, cold pool, sauna, fruit, juices and water. Even if you don't want to use the equipment, it's worth it to go and see the beautiful decor.
FOOD:
We ate at all the restaurants (except the buffet) and they were very good. The swordfish at Terra Rosa is the best.
SERVICE:
95% of the staff were very accommodating and friendly. The pool staff, front desk staff, houskeeping and spa staff were great. 2 out of the 3 people working at the conseiger(sp?) desk weren't very helpful. Maybe you have to tip largely to get them to look up the info you want. If they didn't have an answer they just said they didn't know. Usually, they offer to find out for you but not here.
POOL:
On the weekend the pool area had a lot of kids (during the week it was very quiet). Most of the pool furniture is not adjustable and is comfy for laying down but not for sitting up and reading. They have round beds around the pool which you can use for free but the square ones you have to pay for. Most people found it a little confusing which areas were free and which you had to reserve and pay for. Ask the pool staff on your first day because there is a small area with adjustable loungers that are free.
LOCATION:
If you are a gambler and want to spend a lot of time on the strip this is not the place for you because it takes 1/2 hour to get to the strip. If you want a relaxing place away from the strip this is the perfect location. We loved the location because it was only 2 miles away from Red Rock canyon (cycling is great there). You feel like you are at an relaxing mountain retreat instead of in the middle of the hustle and bustle and bright lights of Vegas. This will appeal to some and be a turn off for others.
CONSTRUCTION:
Still a lot going on but the noise never bothered us. They were working on the other side of the pool while we were sitting out there and it was fine.
OTHER TIPS:
If you want to go to the outlet mall. Take the hotel shuttle to the airport, then a taxi to the mall ($12.00). This will take you about 35 minutes total from the hotel. If you take the shuttle to Fashion Mall, then the bus to the outlet mall, you will have to tranfer at the bus station and it took me 2 hours to get from the hotel to the outlet mall.
Overall, I loved Red Rock and would love to return.
