My husband and I have been to Las Vegas twice before and stayed on the strip. We don't gamble much other than cheap slot machines, so this time we wanted to stay outside of town, away from the crowds, and do some hiking. The Red Rock fit our needs perfectly! This is a beautiful resort and there are so many things to do here that you could never leave the place and still have a great time! We went bowling there and ate at three of their restaurants, gambled a little in the casino, and had a wonderful time. We rented a car and went hiking in the Red Rock National Park, which is lovely and well worth spending a day exploring. We drove to the strip one day and walked around. The pool at the resort was beautiful, but we never had time to go swimming. We only stayed two nights, so we didn't get to do all that is available at the resort. I highly recommend the LBS restaurant---the hamburgers and salads are delicious! Also, be sure to try the Grand Cafe---luscious desserts and superb sandwiches---also a very good breakfast.
You can get a dessert and cup of milk to take to your room for a late night treat there. We ate at the Feast Buffet only once and found that the alcohol is MUCH cheaper there than anywhere else in the resort---2 dollar beers---that's a bargain, and the food and service were good. The only drawback is the waiting in line---but the price is worth the wait.
As in other reviews, it is true that the mini-bar in the room is way overpriced and you get charged if you even move anything in it---so we did not touch it! Also, the bars in the casino can get quite smoky---for non-smokers this is a drawback. We liked sitting at the bars playing the slots, but as soon as a smoker sat by us, we left and went to the non-smoking part of the casino. As for the room, it was perfect! The bathtub is HUGE---you could almost swim laps in it! And the toiletries are very good quality. The robes are a nice touch, too. Also, we discovered that there is a "Do Not Disturb" button that you can push that is right next to the door---it is easy to overlook, and if you don't use it, the maids will knock on your door constantly in the morning to check and see if you are ready to have your room cleaned. I didn't see the button until our second night. The only thing about the room I didn't like is that it is pretty dark---there are no lights in the center of the room. Other than that, the bed is heavenly and the view is amazing (we were on the canyon side). My husband and I have traveled all over the world and rarely go back to the same place twice, but we want to go back to the Red Rock and stay for a week, rent a car, and visit all the national parks nearby. We are already planning to return during Thanksgiving week next year. We loved this place!
