My husband and I just got married at The Wedding Chapel on 3/13/09. We're locals and booked the chapel almost a full 10 months before our wedding day after researching other chapel options on the Strip. Some of the packages are pricier than at other properties, but we thought the Opal Shores package was a good deal. We were willing to pay more for a beautiful venue and first class service. (We were also able to provide personalized wedding vows which I don't know if all the Strip wedding chapels will let you do.)
Our tastes are more modern and simplistic and the three chapels hit the nail on the head - beautifully decorated, clean design, warm colors, and NO cheesy painted ceilings or tacky murals. We had over 90 guests and had to pay the $250 premium for the Platinum Chapel. We received many compliments from our guests about the chapel though - people were impressed!
Our wedding coordinator, Angela DeCosmo, was wonderful! (I know she's been called out on this site before for her great work and I want to add to the kuddos.) She always responded to my emails promptly, answered all of our questions (even the dumb ones), and even helped us with our room accommodations. Most importantly, Angela had great enthusiasm and a positive spirit about the whole process - you can tell she enjoys what she does and wants your wedding to be the best in can be.
If I had to complain about anything, it would be the photography. Some of the poses the photographer has you do after the ceremony are pretty cheesy and the framing of the images wasn't that great (parts of heads getting cut off, images not centered, etc.) And all the paperwork said photography after the ceremony was supposed to last 15 minutes but he wanted us to go for close to 45. (I told him no as we had a schedule - and other photographers - to keep.) We had hired another photographer for "pre-game", "post-game", and reception shots so we weren't concerned about buying the Mandalay Bay proofs as our photogs were awesome. Their photographers try to get you to buy a "special" $1300 package with your proofs, some framed pictures, a large canvas, etc. If you aren't hiring an outside photographer, then I guess the cost is worth it.
We were very pleased with our experience - the minister, wedding coordinator, flowers, and venue were all excellent. Remember to ask for Angela and you'll have a great experience. Good luck!
