My husband had some business to conduct in Vegas. We planned to stay for 2 days but later decided to stay for 4 . Pros: The price was right. The food is decent. The pool was nice, but it closes early. I was able to play bingo and the slots in the same hotel!!. The children went to the movies and had a chance to bowl, in the hotel. No resort fee. Plenty of parking. The children loved it.

Here's the cons:
It is off the strip. There's limited movies on cable. Long lines for check in. Housekeeping had to be called twice. Forgot to clean our room,. The movies are very expensive. The fitness center is additional cost. The business center has additional cost. Far from the strip. Limited places to eat in the hotel. Far away from fast food. The front desk seemed unprofessional and too busy to help. Quick to transfer you if you called to ask questions. We were told we would have queen beds but were given full beds.

Planned to stay here for just one night, but we decided to extend our trip because we were having such a great time. A distance from the strip but well worth the drive. South Point is not crowded (a negative if you are looking for a "nightlife" experience--which I wasn't), has sumputuous rooms, and has plenty to do. We went bowling, went to the movies, enjoyed the pool, played bingo, enjoyed some delicious meals, gambled, and played bingo all without leaving the hotel. The room was large and the bed was divine. I had two wonderful nights sleep and I don't usually sleep well in hotels. One night will not be enough---book two with the Internet special (which is a terrific deal!)

I booked the South Point on a recent trip to Vegas because it received such incredible reviews on this site. Perhaps my expectations were too high. Sure, I got a great deal on my stay, but for just 10 or 15 dollars more I could have stayed on the strip and believe I would have been much happier. The location, obviously, is not good compared to the strip casinos, but this should be obvious. My real problem was with the service.

As I've seen others write, I had a long wait at check-in. When I finally got to the front, the lady at the desk did not apologize for the wait or even acknowledge me. I had to say, "Hi, checking in" before she even looked up. After that she said maybe ten words to me and sent me on my way. When I called down to the front desk later because of a problem, I had a ten-minute wait on the phone, and then they couldn't even solve my problem.

The rooms are nice, I will give the casino that much. But the casino and lobby area is nothing memorable. It's basically one big room, and has nothing special about it. It's much smaller than the strip casinos, too, and doesn't offer nearly the same amount of restaurants and bars. Add all this together, and I was disappointed in my stay considering how rave the reviews are on this site. It's a decent hotel with nice rooms, and probably one of the better casino hotels for families. But for the average traveler, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

After two days staying in the Venetian and a 15-hour day driving to/from the Grand Canyon I was not expecting much. I had pre-booked the room at a cost of less than £25.00. Booked on the strength of previous TA reviews and just to let you know the previous reviews are spot on. I was very surprised and pleased.

The room was large with 2 king size beds. Large TV on wall but not many channels to choose from. Large bathroom, not quite the Venetian but functional none the less. Room was spotless.

Was given a voucher book upon arrival offering discounts in the bars, restaurants etc. There appeared to be no catches in using the vouchers and all were taken without any problems.

The casino appealed to us, none of us are gamblers. It was nice to see lower value blackjack and roulette tables. Still lose the same amount of money but it just takes longer at the South Point.

The next morning we had the buffet breakfast again using the vouchers. Can't fault it. Good choice and all food was hot and plentiful.

For the price we paid this Hotel is without doubt the best value hotel I have ever stayed in. If you're looking for a hotel on the strip then this is not it. If you are looking for a great value, clean hotel for a stop over perhaps after a days sightseeing then go for it.

My wife and I stayed four nights at the South Point on a busy Nascar weekend and had NO problems whatsoever. The staff was friendly and the room was fantastic!
I think people going to Vegas sometimes expect to be treated like they are the ONLY people staying there so sometimes a little rerspect for the people you are dealing with can go a long way.
When it comes to peoples complaints about cab fare to the strip..HELLO did you not look on a map where you are staying or maybe you should have thought about renting a CAR.
