This is our third visit to the South Point, always for 1st week of March Madness. As always, we were very pleased with our stay. Check-in simple. Rooms are large, clean, and comfortable. The pool and hot tub area are great. Restaurants and bars are good (Del Mar Deli pricey). Sports betting crowded (as you would expect for March Madness) - staff pleasant (ask for drink coupon - they are not offered). Lots of penny slots and low table minimums. Shop open 24 hours (liquor, gifts, some food). Plenty of on-site parking, either in front of hotel/casino, or in parking garage. Miss the dueling pianos at the Del Mar Bar. Able to print my boarding pass at the Business Center (for a charge). Overall, a very good deal. Will be back next March.

When we booked with Expedia, under the hotel loc it noted a Trolley service existed from the Hotel to Strip for $5.Upon arrival, we asked Hotel staff where the Trolley pickup was and they directed us to a side entrance. After 10 mins we decided to ask other Staff associates how often the Trolley ran & were shocked by their response-Trolley was discontinued in Dec.2008 & they recommended we inform Hotel Management. Discussed with Front Desk Supervisor he offered a free buffet for our inconvenience but expressed that he didn't believe that this infor existed on-line. We persisted, requested review Expedia under loc-after 15 mins he found the Trolley info. No apology occurred after incorrect info was located & still a free buffet was the offer-a $9. compensation replacing a round-trip taxi cost of $60.perday. Requested to speak to his Superior - we waited another hour - Speaking with Hotel Dir. proved fruitless except for receiving an apology. The HotelDir noted no monetary compensation or alternate transportation would be provided from the Hotel-even though Expedia website and Hotel staff had misinformed their customers. I noted we were looking at the difference between Trolley costs and Taxi-did not happen! Hotel Dir response is making Expedia aware of issue. This is Fraudulent Advertising, & the Hotel should take responsiblity, as the Trolley has not been available for 3 months and their OWN STAFF was incorrectly informing customers. We are out $50. per day for 5 days-$250 total. Had we known that NO reasonable cost transportation was available from the Hotel, we would not have booked at this hotel. Stay on the Strip for the same $ deals for a 4* rating, and avoid frustration when dealing with Hotel management's attitudes with no concern for their customers and fighting for re-imbursement!

This hotel was a great value. The room was huge, comfortable and clean. However, there were several drawbacks: 1) the hotel takes a $100 deposit to ensure that you will not trash your room, 2) For the most part, the food was sketchy at the buffet. The waffles and coffee were quite good though, 3) the iron was tethered to the board so you would not run off with it, 4) there were lots of tacky paintings of horses and girls with horses in my room, 5) there was a prominent sign in the bathroom about proper needle disposal and I am sure that it did not refer to diabetics, 6) there was a warning that the fire marshal was going to test the fire alarm very early in morning. Thankfully, this did not occur as I got in very late from the East Coast.

too bad they don't have a clue how to keep their air clean. If I wasn't choking on the air pollution, it would have been an good stay but since I can't hold my breath for more than a few seconds, I ended up miserable the whole time. When I first walked into the room, it was beautiful but the air was horrible. I looked into the AC intake filter and saw it was caked with years worth of crud. Called the front desk and they sent up a maintenance man to change the filter. A little bald headed chap with an attitude showed up, cussed at the 2 screws he had to turn to take the cover off, proceeds to bend the filter in the middle creating a crease that breaks any chance of a seal and stormed off like he had something better to do. The windows do not open so there is no chance for fresh air unles you take the elevator down and walk past a row of 30-40 ringing machines and step outside. Something i did several times near the end of my stay. The walls are paper thin I could hear people laughing shouting from 2 rooms away. I booked for a week as I was relocating to Vegas and spent most of the day driving around looking at houses for sale. But in the evenings I would browse online listing. By the end of the week stay, my internet charges added up to $90. Yep.. a cool $12.99/ 24 hrs A service that most hotels gladly offer for free. I guess they must be ashamed to charge for the internet cuz they say on the TV menu that "only wireless requires access code, the wired internet is free. This turned out to be a blatant lie as I tried to connect with my own cable and it took me right back to the to the "pay now or no internet" page. When I asked the maintenance man what that "only wireless requires access" meant, he shrugged and rolled his eyes and pointed to the cable and repeated that it is $12.99 that requires an access code. The TV is nice. A big 42 flat screen hanging on the wall. You turn it on and it starts blaring ads for the casino. Ok, no problem, change the channel and find there are very few choices. Put it on something you want to watch and a few minutes later, it reverts back to a droning female voice suggesting over and over again "what are you waiting for, click menu now for some porno. Titles will not show on your bill. Click menu now. What are you waiting for... aaaarrrrggghhhh " Click!!! the TV is off. Over all I would not have complained about anything if the air was clean. The rooms are very nice, the garden buffet was excellent, I will go back for that sometime. Best lasagna I have had in years. But if I cant breathe, I cant stay sorry... I moved to an extended stay hotel just down the street from this place. I can breathe, I am paying less than 1/2 of the other place. Internet is free. I am happy. I feel sorry for the people that have to work there all day long day after day. It would make me physically sick as I could hardly stand 1 week of it. If they chanced all the filters regularly, and used commercial grade hepa vacuum cleaners, it would go a long way to making guests comfortable.

When my wife and I come to Vegas we like to spend a bit of time off strip and then finish up in the thick of the action for the last couple of days. We chose the South Point following a workmates comments. We actually booked the hotel three times as they kept on reducing the price ending up with a one and one free deal. This gave us a really nice clean room but on a low floor with views of the car park. We guessed this would be and hence were not disappointed with what we got. The room itself was very clean, well laid out, plenty of room and comfortable bed. The Hotel itself is very nice, plenty to do there, slots, tables, bowling, movies, shows, but the web site says minutes from the strip. Well depends how fast you drive but it's a straight line once you leave the hotel. There is a rumour going round that the shuttle they ran to Mandalay Bay is no longer operating due to the current financial climate and hence without a car the taxi bills could be steep if popping to the strip on a regular basis. That might be worth checking out if you are a non driver. We tend to eat out rather than use the hotels restaurants but we did have the breakfast buffet and found it to be good food and good value.
The staff at the hotel are all very friendly and attentive. The slots might well be looser than the strip proper but they got my money, had hours of fun mind you.
All in all an excellent off strip property which I would use again.
