Funny and ... well ... "magical".

My wife insists we see Penn & Teller every time we hit Vegas. They've got so much material that every show is different. They are, of course, fabulous magicians, illusionists, diversionists - actually, all of these and more. And so entertaining, funny, witty, sarcastic - often relying on shock appeal. One of their games is to expose how tricks are done ... then adding a twist of illusion, diversion or deception to keep you asking "How did they do that?" They do the "catch the bullet in your teeth" thing, but a personal favourite for me is the nail gun - Penn shoots nails into a board to show it's real, then gradually starts to intersperse shots to his hand, neck - obviously the gun is loaded with some blanks. But then he speeds up in a wild rythym, firing a number of shots into the board, then into his hand, back to the board, the hand again, his neck - he insists it's just a memory game with him recalling the spacing of the blanks, but, wow, if he ever slips up things would get very messy!

Saw Penn & Teller on 3/24/09 and thought the show was good and different, but not enough magic for me. Alot of talking to explain what was going on. I love magic and what they did was amazing, but I was looking for more pizzazz and didn't get it.

We were pleasantly surprised by this show. This was very different from the usual show you see in vegas. Their delivery is unique and despite the fact that they show you how some of the tricks are done they always throw in a twist that leaves you amazed. Nice touch after the show was Penn and Teller themselves out in the lobby taking pictures and signing autographs for any and all that approached. Fun show, well worth it!

I've seen a number of P&T TV appearances... so I thought I'd give them a go live. (March 22,09)

They were mildly entertaining. An uninspired (flat) show.
I guess that comes from doing the same short, basic show night after night. Penn's speech was either mumbled or just poor sound quality at times.

I paid $69 (discounted) at Tix4Tonight.

My advice... pick someting else.
I think I would have had more fun losing money at the slots.

Saw the show on 3/22/09 & it was more comedic than awe-inspiring magic, but still entertaining. Show was pretty short (maybe 1 or 1 &1/2 hrs), didn't know there'd be jazz music pre-show. I was seated a few rows up on upper level right side & was able to see pretty well. The sound quality wasn't great, it was kind of hard to hear Penn sometimes. Not sure how people in nosebleed sections saw much at all. Got to see the show for 1/2 price for staying at the Rio (discount voucher was in the room). Some cool tricks (*fish) & some lame bits (*fire eating). I'd say the show is worth seeing for 1/2 price but not for full price.
