While searching Google for places to visit, we came across the reviews here and decided to give VooDoo a go. After a little extra searching online (the Rio Hotel interactive site) we found a pair of VIP passes that included free entry and front of the line privlidges. I don't know if it's a temporary special deal and it looked like you can only do it once, but what a great value!
We showed up dressed to kill as we were ready to have a great time. As soon as we walked in, we knew we were in our kind of place. The music was a great balance of recognisable tunes from past and present, the DJ was not annoying, the other guests were packed in decently so it wasn't too empty or too full, and the atmosphere was PERFECT, especially when you combine the indoor and outdoor areas.
I noticed the drink prices were not cheap but don't kid yourself, drinks in EVERY Vegas club turned out to be high, so VooDoo really wasn't out of line if you compare apples to apples.
In the early evening the outside area was a bit cold due to the breeze but once we starrted dancing, we warmed right up. Also, later in the evening the breeze died off so it wasn't too bad when we finally got tired and started striking up new friendships.
We didn't find the employyes rude, they were just very busy taking care of so many people so they couldn't really pay any extra special attention to us. Don't feel slighted, it turned out to be the same at the other clubs as well. One thing was nice, the manager did ask how our night was going and when we said "GREAT", he said he was glad to hear it and shook our hands. Not super exciting, but hey, it was unexpected and nice. The club was clean and modern. The gogo dancers were fun to watch and dance with. The drinks were mixed well.
The only negative was seating was at a premium...it's definitly not a sit-down club for most, but I guess we just show our age when we're looking for a chair ;-) We did find a seat a couple of times but forget about having it held when you get up. Most later-hour seating turned into "reserved" seating where you have to tip a little better or something. Next trip, we'll find out...yes, we'll definitly be back!
To close the story off, we got off pretty cheap because of the passes BUT even if we don't score them next time, we'll be more than happy to pay the cover charge. The other clubs we went to (Studio 54, Coyote Ugly, Pussy Cat Dools Lounge) were expensive in comparison and didn't provide half the fun. Next time, we'll visit a few other clubs but for sure will keep VooDoo Lounge at the top of our list.
