Well let me start off by commending the Rio Suites and Voodoo Lounge for having the best view in Vegas. That is where the commending stops. I went with my parents and friends on April 14th after a show earlier that evening. We had a free pass from the show for use as cover at the Voodoo.
I am glad because otherwise we would have to pay $20 just to get the wonderfully smug and pompous "cashier" at the door. His name starts with "C". He gave us problems right off the bat. No smile, no greeting. Nothing. We did not read the small print that we had to have the ticket stub from the show; but he MADE SURE that we knew we were wrong...making us feel bad for just wanting to go for a drink on my last night there.
Once we got past C, the Gatekeeper. We hit the elevator to go up to the lounge. I hit both buttons to go up, but the elevator that was blocked off opened and the other one did not. Well, after waiting, I decided to go into the elevator that was blocked off. Well, I realized right away that I did something awful because C yelled at me and said that the elevator was blocked off for a reason. I knew that, but I guess I was too impatient.
The $20 gets you up to the lounge, but I feared what the drinks might have cost. I walked around and looked at the great view and listened to some house music. The DJ was good, but not once was I approached for a drink. The place was not too busy at all.
Although I was dressed according to their dress code, I felt myself and the people I was with were being judged....starting at my experience with C. I guess money talks at this place, so if you are a regular joe and want to drink and just be around good people, go elsewhere. If you want to schmooze or impress your girl, head to Voodoo. Nice view, C the cashier needs an attitude adjustment, and staff can cater to other than the VIP crowd.
