we booked our wedding at the bellagio only 9 weeks before our big day.
we chose the east chapel as there were only 8 in our party, and the backdrop of the stained windows made perfect photographs.
our wedding co-ordinator was excellent and no request was too much. we had a harpist who was fantastic and played beautifully. the minister was a fun guy. we even had elvis burst in at the end and timing was of the essence. we weren't let down. everything went perfectly!
we had a mid-range tuscany package of which the cost soon spiralled to £10,000. ($16,000 at the current exchange rate, $20,000 at the usual exchange rate).
the service was fantastic and cannot be faulted. the staff play a huge part in that.
however the hidden costs for absolutely everything are a huge disappointment and you can't help but moan about it! for example they charged me £100 ($160) to steam out the creases on my wedding dress. we thought something like that might be part of the service? my bouquet was $275, and a plain simple bouquet of a dozen roses for my bridesmaid was $100. the mens boutonieres were $45 each. the bellagio won't allow you to arrange your own flowers so these charges are unavoidable.
the flowers in the chapel were also expensive.
there were no little surprises in our room, no rose petals on the bed or bottle of champagne. we thought they might throw something in to congratulate us-not a sausage.
the cost of the photographs are a complete rip off! ok so they were beautiful pictures but for 128 small prints (which were already printed for them to show us) were $2300 before tax. a disc of the pictures was $1300. indivual prints started at $18 each for 5x7 small size. (which are 3pence each in a supermarket). basically for a half decent package you are looking at $4000 plus the cost of the photographer. considering we had already paid for a wedding package and then paid extra for more photography time, we felt robbed.
on arrival, we were given a spa and salon discount voucher of 20%, only to later be told it was not valid on sundays and so it cost $250 to have hair and make-up done in the salon.
this will sound contradictive, but apart from the cost issues, it really was a wonderful day and the service was fantastic. i dont want to put anyone off from getting hitched at the bellagio just merely warn you to be prepared.
we aren't cheap skates at all and we enjoy the finer things in life, but we dont like being taken for a ride.
ive done a separate review for the hotel room, and you will see why the two reviews are separate if you read it!
good luck with your wedding x
