We went to Vegas for a week at the beginning of July and one of our friends had a distinct fondness for Mexican food, so we wound up at quite a few Mexican restaurants all over the Strip and this one was BY FAR the tastiest. Everyone (there were 8 of us) seemed quite happy with their food and cocktails and the bill was very reasonable: $220 including tax and tip for 8 people! Granted we did generally order from the regular plates (enchiladas, etc.) and not the more exotic entree specialties (ie, in the $20s per plate) but since we had drinks, it probably evened out. I did take the precaution of making a reservation (which is when I found out they only open at 4pm) since it was a table for 8 at 8pm. They were very prompt and well organized in seating us though the service during the meal itself was a bit more leisurely. I can't remember what anyone else ate (sorry -- it's been a few weeks) but I had the masa corn cake sampler appetizer thingie which came with 3 different mini-tortilla-like "cakes" (chicken, beef, and cheese) and they were EXCELLENT, with unusual seasoning -- and also big enough to serve as an entree, I thought. The pork tamales were also very moist and flavorful. I say go!

What ever you do, do not order the Lobster not worth the dime. The only thing
worth getting is the Sample plate of appetizers. The drinks are watered down.
Not a kid freindly place. Rachel Ray from the Food Network gave it a high
praise- don't believe it. My advise, appetizers, soft drinks and desert only.
Stay away from the lousy canned dinners.

Just returned from a trip to Vegas (3/24-27/06)and ate at Isla on 3/26. The food was EXCELLENT! I absolutely love Mexican food and this place was great. The guacamole was out of this world and the Pacific Snapper Ceviche was to die for. Everyone I was with loved the food, the service, and atmosphere. I will definately be back during my next trip. ...ooh and almost forgot - great margaritas!

this place had some unique twists on classic mexican fare, and the flavors were incredible. not your average tex-mex, and it shouldnt be. service was fine,, drinks were expensive and small.
i would recommend this to any of my friends, and the fact this place is ranked #570 make me question how accurate the rankings are.
