I stayed at Green Valley the first weekend in December, 2005. I booked a superior king smoking room on the hotel website. I was staying alone, but having local area resident friends visit me at the hotel and join me for dinner on one day and two evenings.
My first impressions: Really impressive and beautiful property from the valet parking area and through the lobby. Valet, bell desk and front desk personnel set the tone for a relaxing stay. Very professional, friendly and service was efficient and prompt. Upon arriving to my room I immediately noticed it was not a smoking room so I returned to the front desk to see if they could move me to smoking. The first room was very pretty--tastefully decorated iin what I would call a continental type of decor. The second smoking room was unbelievable. I assume I was put into a higher end room. The smoking room was huge --on the second floor. It had a spacious and well-appointed flagstone patio through french doors overlooking the pool area. The only down side is that it was near the whiskey bar and so it was very noisy into the wee hours of the morning. Bed was super comfortable, and the furnishing were pretty and functional.
I had incredible luck at video poker on this trip. The first night I lost a few hundred dollars mostly playing quarters, but the second and third night it was surreal--I could not lose and ended up taking home almost $6,000 of GVR's money. Obviously I can't promise you the same experience but they have good pay tables if you look for them, and I liked that you could change the denominations and games on almost all of the machines. Cocktail service was decent most of the time. I will say for the amount of time I gambled, I was a little surprised that I hadn't earned a room comp for even one night, but in light of my winnings, I can't complain--and since then they have sent me a few promotional complimentary offers.
The one thing that I found that unfavorably compared to my favorite upscale resorts on and around the Vegas strip was the restaurant selection. This is a small hotel, and perhaps I expected too much, but the choices were meager. I found the Cafe to be adequate at best and service somewhat slow--although when I saw how far the servers had to walk from the kitchen, I couldn't blame them for delays. The only upscale dining choice appeared to be Hanks, which was a little too much. I wish they had something like a sit down service mexican restaurant, or an italian bistro kind of place between the high end Hanks and the cafe, pancake house and food court options for a casual lunch or dinner.
I didn't use the pool or venture into the nightclub but both appeared to be perfect for young adults who want to party in style.
I would definitely return--especially if lady luck decided to follow me back!

We stayed here for 2 nights in April & had a great time. I didn't experience the problems that other reviewers did, so perhaps things have improved. The room was very nice - 2 soft beds w/ down comforters & pillows, a huge bathroom with a magnifying mirror (nice touch!) and separate shower/tub/toilet, and a stocked martini bar that was nice, though we didn't use it. The service was very good in the casino, reception desk, housekeeping, you name it! Everybody was friendly & helpful.

My only complaints about the hotel/casino are that the shower was very small (I'm 5'5" and had difficulty finding space to shave my legs, so I don't know how a larger person would function in that little shower), and the smoke (this is one of the smokiest casinos I've ever been in! It also seems to be a locals hangout, so maybe cigars & cigarettes are very popular in Henderson). The casino was very quiet during the day, probably because there were not very many tourists around. Another thing to note is the spa was completely booked the whole weekend. If you're planning to get a treatment, it's best to make a reservation ahead of time!

I liked the hotel, but will probably stick with the strip area next time. There's more to do down there!

Quick background – I am a regular player in Las Vegas with a $200 – 300 average risking $10,000 – 25,000 each trip; my wife and I had been staying at Bellagio in their penthouse suites before being lured to try Green Valley Ranch by Matt Sacca.

Our stay – suite was occupied by another guest who was not leaving and hotel was oversold, finally, after my prompting and many telephone calls to Matt’s assistant (she was not proactive enough to call me), we were put in a larger suite comparable to the penthouse suites at Bellagio at more than twice the price of our reserved suite. Matt agreed to comp the first night for our trouble. After speaking with a front desk manager, Amy, she comp’d the second night.

First night, maybe half of the tables were open and we could not find a single seat. People were hovering like vultures waiting for seats. Only option would have been to play in the high limit room, but leave my wife to watch as she does not play larger bets as I do. This happened twice during our stay.

At no time did we feel that we were treated properly. Matt and his assistant were notoriously absent and everything required phone calls and legwork by us. Front desk manager was supposed to call us back the second day after she discussed the issue with higher-ups, and when she hadn’t we stopped by the front desk at almost 3 PM where she informed us that “the day is not over yet”. Then I found out that they had overcharged my credit card by $950.

Left message with front desk on the second morning to have Ninya call me on my cell phone, but Amy came out and I believe that she intercepted the message. That afternoon, I left another message with the front desk for Ninya and she called and left a voicemail on our room phone – apparently she did not have my cell number; I wonder why! Ninya had left by the time I got the message.

Upon checkout, our car had not been arranged to take us to the airport even though we were told by Matt’s assistant that it would be the night before. Matt and his assistant were not on property, so I spoke to another host regarding comps. They tried to blow us off without any comps saying that our room had already been comp’d for 2 nights! The only manager on property that day was Amy and she spoke to Ninya who was supposedly coming into the hotel and Marilyn who is a director on the casino side who was also coming in, but both would arrive after we were schedule to depart. She took my cell phone number. Amy told me that nothing would be charged to my card. 3 days after our return, I never received any calls and found that more than $650 was charged to my card that same day.

Our general impression is that this is a beautiful hotel and casino. The dealers, pit bosses and waitresses were all VERY friendly. However, all of this is simply a pretty candy coating. There is not much in the way of substance. Service would be more appropriate for a 3 star hotel outside of Las Vegas. Walls, floors and ceilings are very thin. Slots are extremely tight. It does not seem to make sense to have half of the tables open with people waiting, but in the high limit room, have 3 dealers standing around doing nothing while 2 people play at one of the 4 tables.

I wouldn’t stay there again if someone paid me to. Your stay MIGHT go fine, but if you run into a problem, you can see what you can expect. I have read many bad reviews of this hotel where it was raised that one might have to be a higher player to get better service, as you can see, this hotel is an equal opportunity bad service provider.

This is a perfectly fine, anonymous big hotel, as are many in Vegas. I wanted to stay off the strip, in search of a bit more quiet, during the week before Christmas. I chose Green Valley because of the District across the street (open-air mall).

The room was nice, nothing notable, nothing wrong. Clean. Enjoyed the BOSE sound system. Nice deep bathub and separate shower. Down pillows. We requested a quiet room and heard no noise from restaurants or people outside the building. We did hear music from our neighbors below, so the rooms aren't terribly sound-proofed. The concierge and bell service were all very helpful.

The District was very handy for my teenaged daughter. Even though it was just a few days before Christmas, the stores were uncrowded. There were several good restaurants. All this was within walking distance -- and not "Strip" walking distance, where "next door" means a half hour away!
