We stayed here for five nights September 09. We had visited this hotel/casino on a few occasions on previous visits to Las Vegas and thought we would spend some time here on our next visit.
We had earlier spent 5 nights at The Bellagio prior to our stay here and thought that hey if it was even just half as good as what The Bellagio was then we would be delighted.
I must say the hotel was superb !!!!! It is around 11 miles from the LV Strip but the freeway made it seem a lot closer. We were given a superior room which looked over the pool area however the view was partly hindered by the palm tree branches. The room was very large and the bed was so comfortable and soft. We had the best sleep of our holidays here, infact you could actually buy one of the beds for your own home however getting it to England was the hardest part. The design , architecture, plushness and cleanliness of the hotel was fantastic. There was no noise at all from the hallways, you could hear the music from the pool but it was never on that late to cause a nuisence.
The pool area is fantastic, there are loads of loungers and parasols at your disposal , the jacuzzi was so relaxing and the main pool has a beach with sand so far into the pool. The waitresses were always around to take your requests for drinks/food.
We really only ate at the buffet or cafe and they were of excellent quality, the staff were always of a pleasant nature.
One thing that was not to our liking was the casino It was very very tight. Most of the time it was quiet however on the weekend it was packed mainly with locals and some rather decidedly dodgy looking characters, perhaps it was me but there seemed a better type of clientele at some of the other casinos in Las Vegas.
The valet was exceptional when we arrived and during the time we stayed there however when we were leaving they didnt really want to know.
Overall we fully enjoyed our stay and will be back next year, try it you wont be dissapointed !

Did a 3 nite stay at resort. Grounds were very clean and not real smokey. Hotel room in west tower recently renovated and worth the money. Shuttle service from airport was timely. Staff was friendly and helpful. Spa facility was above avg. with steam sauna and heated lap pool. Food within complex was not very good and pricey except for the buffet which always had a line. Walk over to "District" has nice rest. and shopping. Casino was light on staff so service was slow but machines paid to keep it interesting. Overall, I would recommend it as an alternative to the Strip.

A nice hotel and area. Some of the dealers that work during the evening are really not very pleasant. For the money, you are probably better off staying at the SouthPoint, the employees are a lot friendlier, the casino is a lot friendlier, and there is more to do. But, if you really like the "lodgey" look, then you might want to stay at the Silverton. Both of these places are off the strip.

excellent stay last week - great location, off of the Strip - no hassle with the masses of folks like on the Strip - great breakfast buffet, dinner as well - quiet, peaceful - pool scene more geared towards adults rather than kids, but my 10 year old enjoyed herself - great workout room, excellent service - don't think twice about this place - stay there -

I stayed at the GVR in March while attending a conference at the hotel. Beautiful location, away from the noise & bustle of the strip but yet still feels like Vegas. Rooms were well appointed & comfortable, bath was spacious & nice although my shower door was a little difficult to pull open. Wish there had been a mini-fridge to store leftovers in though, and why doesn't it seem like any hotels in Vegas offer free internet service?
If you go there for a conference, bring comfy walking shoes... there are several rooms spread out all over the complex, and if they do to you what they did to us... meals at one end of the building, seminars at the other... you will be hiking a ways! The casino seemed nice but then I'm not a gambler. Lots of restaurants of every flavor imaginable (seafood to Italian to Irish pub), a nice food court, and if that's not enough head out the back door to the GVR shopping district for more restaurants & great shopping.
The spa was lovely, the pool area was gorgeous with ample space for privacy!
The only irony I saw was that I was there attending a "Green Hotel Development" conference, and this hotel does not have any "green" practices... no towel re-use, and according to my masseuse, they don't even offer recycling in the employee areas.
