We ate at the Ports O' Call Buffet at the Gold Coast to save a little money and see if we hit a bargain, and we were pleasantly surprised to see that the buffet was a really good deal, and had many items to choose from.
We ate at brunch, which, as other reviews say, cost 13.95. However, kids cost about 4 dollars less. While we were paying for our buffet, we saw some other people who had coupons and their Club Coast card, and their buffet price got slashed down to less than 8 bucks.
The servers were really friendly; they would add more beverages when the cup was not finished yet, and would always ask if we need ed something.
The environment was really spacious, not squishy like some other buffets, and was really bright.
The food was our big surprise. Although not the best that you can find in Vegas, there were some really excellent things. The thing that we were really surprised about was the Chinese stir fry station. You could make your own stir fry, add whatever you wanted to, and the friendly chef, who speaks Chinese and actually remembers you and will run to you to say that your meal is finished (which is by far again another thing that we have never experienced at a buffet), will cook your selection. Why were we surprised by this? Well, the food tasted really authentic, and it was a giant platter! If you got the same platter of food at a fancy Chinese restaurant on the strip, it would cost more than 10 bucks! Also, the stir fry tasted excellent, and we really wanted to get another platter of stir fry.
There were also other selections, such as cereals, yogurts, fruits, italian pizza (not really good), pasta (no comment), seafood (salmon cream cheese spread for bagels, swordfish, etc.) section, regular american section (your amercian breakfast; the special thing was that waffles were freshly made (unlike pancakes), and they had clubs, hearts, diamonds and spade shape), eggs benedict (which was always completely taken...by lunchtime, there were only like 5 remaining...out of like about 30+, mexican section, which had chips, enchiladas, tacos, etc., a carving section, which had a beef steamboat (okay...not prime rib...fyi), and a spiral sliced ham (pretty good, and flavorful) and lastly the authentic chinese section and the huge selection of desserts.
The chinese section had chow mein (very good tasting...al dente pasta, which had a bite to it (unlike some places), egg rolls (also very good) , and your average orange chicken, etc. Also, there was a stir fry section (which I talked about earlier), and a mongolian station...pretty authentic as well. The desert section had a wide range to pies, cookies, and munchies...like donuts and other pastries...like danish. Also, there was a soft serve ice cream station.
We were pleasantly surprised by this buffet, and would return next time for breakfast or brunch.
