“Did Not Meet My Expectations”

Wynn Las Vegas

My husband and I spent 3 nights at the Wynn while he attended a CME (Continuing Medical Education ) class. I was so looking forward to our visit. The hotel is very beautiful and they were nice enough to check us in at 10:30AM. As I unpacked my suitcase and opened the dresser drawer much to my amazement were dirty underclothes of the people in the room before us! I called housekeeping and they picked them up. Then I try to hang up clothing in the closet to find only a few hangers. Housekeeping then delivered more. I went to into the bathroom to find the floor dirty with little pieces of pilled toilet paper on the floor! Again Housekeeping was called. They cleaned up some of it, but missed quite a bit in the comode area. Our air conditioner was making noise so maintenance fixed the rattle while we were out and dropped clumps of filter dust all over the floor and still the next day the maid did not vaccuum it up. At this point I had enough and called the hotel manager who was not very personable. He did send up a supervisor who couldn't believe the maid missed all of this, and she noticed our light fixture in the bathroom was not working. She promised to have our beds turned down and of of this fixed at 8:00 pm while we were out to dinner. We came home after midnight to find nothing had been done!!! I called her the next morning and she apologized. The hotel did not compensate us in any way, but a few extra toiletries for the aggravation they put us through. This service was so below par that I am still in shock for the money they have the gall to charge for the rooms. The room was not clean, the housekeeping was horrible, and the manager should be fired for his lack of professionalism The hotel is nice, the pool is good, but do not expect anywhere near 5 diamond service. It's a bunch a bull.

I had a great time at wynn las vegas, My dad took me here for my birthday present. It was excellent. Las vegas is a crazy city and it was always nice to return to our rooms at the wynn and relax.
Room-
We booked a two bedroom fairway villa. It was excellent. It had a huge living rooom dining room with bar and seating space. The living was very nice. THe bathrooms at the hotel were huge, with wonderful showers and tubs and excellent closet space. The room also had a massage room which we never used. It had a nice terrace, which was great to sit on and look at the golf course when all around its a crazy city. The view is nice because you can see the golf course and the mountains and several hotel and casino.
Pool-The pool is great. I would reccomend getting a cabana though.
Resteraunts- The first night we ate at sw steakhose which was excellent. We ate there early so we could get to a show so we missed the light show which i hear was great. The next night we ate at bartollota which was also great. Both resteraunts had wonderful service but teh service at bartolotta was better.
Service- the service is great at the wynn not at all slow and everyone was very nice

Update on Wynn Hotel: Another Visit

I wanted to update some of my thoughts on the Wynn after my May review of our visit. We just returned from a six-day visit (May 23-29) and again had a wonderful time in general, with some growing concerns and general observations. I thought I would focus on our restaurant experiences and the general mood of the casino.

Mind you we were invited and were given a wonderful standard room with a great view of the strip. Sometimes we are given tower suite accommodations, but not this visit and to be honest, the regular rooms are fantastic and comfortable. We arrived very late at night from New York and were taken via a limo to the registration desk. We were given our tenth floor accommodations, and immediately upon entering I called housekeeping to ask for four additional foam pillows and bath towels. Delivery was fairly quick. Of course I broke a glass container of grains used for facials while packing and it shattered all over the floor – I mean glass everywhere. Again, a phone call to housekeeping and within minutes a team arrived with vacuum in hand to clean up my mess. I of course tipped the staff and was impressed that they were that efficient at midnight at dealing with a housekeeping emergency.

It was MAGIC convention time, and the hotel was full. In fact, we were originally to arrive in the morning but called the day before and asked if we could arrive in the evening thus needing a room a day earlier and were almost denied due to the hotel being so full. It is amazing the amount of business this casino continues to receive. However, you would never know there was a full hotel if you looked at the number of people gambling. This was one of the most bizarre elements of our visit – the emptiness in general of the casino gambling area. It was - to be blunt - no fun to gamble at tables with one or two people (craps is a no-no when you are alone) and Baccarat was all but impossible since tables were occupied by mostly Asian players and Asian dealers speaking Asian languages. Mind you they bring welcomed revenue to be sure and seem to be having fun, but when six people are at a table that is exclusively speaking a foreign language it does make you feel out of place. Besides, who wants to break up what truly becomes a private party where you cannot be in on the jokes. Your only other choice is to play at a table by yourself and talk to the dealer. In general at times I felt out of place and we did in fact taxi to other casinos on the strip to play just to be with fellow gamblers and feel some camaraderie. The truth was the conventioneers were not gambling the sort of limits that the Wynn usually commands

The emptiness of the casino extended to the pool area and the restaurants. We were amazed that I did not have to resort to giving someone’s abandoned items on a lounge chair to lost and found so I can enjoy the pool. The resort was sold out, but the conventioneers were at conventions during the day and were sure not using the pool during the day (although the pool was far from deserted). We leave the pool area between 10am and 11am – and on the last visit by then it was impossible to get a chair. Now there were no problems although choice areas may not have been readily available by then.

I have noticed many reviewers on this site describing the resort as less than elegant and perhaps to some extend they are correct. The Wynn is first and foremost a casino and should be catering to gamblers. Like most Strip resorts, the product appears to be suffering an identity crisis. They have to “pack em in” in order to generate revenues but that often means most people are not dropping bucks at the Casino and thus the product becomes just a great room and hotel and not an ultra luxury resort and casino experience. The hotel truly has no incentive to provide over the top luxury because the crowd coming in is still expecting to find a coffee maker in the room. The Wynn wants to be that Fabulous place on the strip – and to some extent it is but at the same time it is far cry from those establishments in New York, Paris, Los Angeles, London and so on that truly provide exceptional services. Indeed on review did comment that the Wynn leaves many details unattended to and the do. While it was again a great trip the atmosphere was disappointing and the empty tables leaves one to ask why they would want to gamble at the Wynn. We return in December for another Jaunt. I have also included a restaurant review in another section just to comment on the experiences we ha

“My Assessment After the Fourth Visit”

Wynn Las Vegas

Sep 15, 2007
3/3 found this review helpful

We just got back from our fourth visit to the Wynn. It should be said that the Vegas Strip isn't known for good service, even in the high-end hotels. Compared to the others, the Wynn generally has taken great care of us with some exceptions that would never happen in a 5-star in any other city.

The casino and restaurants are absolutely gorgeous. Even the casual dining cafe is one of my favorite areas of the hotel, it's that beautiful. The rooms are done very tastefully and are very comfortable.

The Wynn has done an outstanding job of getting a good mix of restaurants - from quick and pretty inexpensive to high end, and everything in-between. We've rarely had a bad meal in any of them, and the Wynn is the only Strip hotel we can say that about! My fav is the Golf Club for brunch or lunch, or the deli for quick and very tasty meals that two people can easily share.

Most of the staff are great, and will work to accomodate your requests. Housekeeping and the casino dealers are especially accomodating.

Even though the Wynn is better than the Strip Standard For Customer Service, there are some gaps. The lines for check-in aren't organized enough, resulting in too much time spent in them. The Venetian does a much better job.

Minimum bets at the table games are too high. The lowest minimums we've ever seen at craps and roulette are $15, and that was fleeting. Lots of $25 and $100 tables. We made the short walk to TI's $10 tables ($5 early in the am), and cabbed it to the $10 tables that Bellagio always seems to have on weekdays.

Restaurant service is generally good, with some excellent experiences and some very disappointing ones. Getting a table without a reservation is handled very nicely, and they'll genuinely work to get you in if it's at all possible. Something for the other Strip hotels to take lessons from. What I don't understand is why two of the Wynn restaurants, when nearly empty at 5:00pm, would not let us sit at a table for drinks and appetizers only. I also don't understand why the Golf Club couldn't get a hamburger cooked so the middle wasn't cold and raw after two attempts - and not a visit from the manager or deduction from the bill.

If you like visiting different venues when you're in Vegas, the Wynn isn't in a very good location. We often find ourselves wanting to go to the Bellagio or Caesar's Forum Shops, and must cab it. No problem walking there when we stayed at the Venetian or TI (which are "next door" to the Wynn, if that term can be used accurately on the Strip).

Overall, we love the Wynn. The trick is to reset your expectations to the Strip Standard for Customer Service.

FANTASTIC place....
This was my second time in Vegas. I had booked a room at the MGM and it was not going well. So for my last two nights, a miracle happen( i say that because it is only when i moved that my vacation really started), I decided to go crazy and I moved to the Wynn.
First of all, the room was beautiful with a very nice view, food was great (the buffet is what a Vegas buffet should be and above)the gambling was fun and the staff was cool.
Great pool, great music and atmosphere, the most beautiful girls walking around..... what can I say if I was rich i would be there 5 times a year.

It is truely a five star hotel.... and I should know I run one!
