The Wynn is an absolutely stunning hotel in every way - the lobby, the restaurants, the pool, the service, and the rooms, but you'll pay for it. And pay for it and pay for it.
We just returned from a New Years Eve weekend at the Wynn. We were really amazed at the intricate detail and beauty of the Wynn, inside and out. There isn't one speck of trash or dirt anywhere - there are hudreds of employees everywhere you look, and they are all very nice and attentive to any needs. The casino is nice, but smaller than you would think, and higher minimums than other casinos. The rooms (we stayed in a regular room) are very nicely designed, with a large marble bathroom, separate glass shower and oversized tub, two plasma tvs, awesome views (we overlooked the pool and golf course, can't imagine what the strip must have looked like) comfortable bed and sitting area/work desk. You can tell they really thought out the design to the smallest detail.
But, the prices! Oy vey! Everyone knows they jack up prices on New Years Eve, but some of the charges were borderline offensive. On New Years Eve early evening, they wanted $20 per person just to sit in the lobby bar for an hour, even though we were guests paying $899 for our room that night. (We declined.) We decided to "buy" a table at the nightclub Tryst for NYE (of course that price did not include the European bottle service, taxes, 30% autmatic gratuities or other charges) and let's just say we had a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but I am embarrassed to tell you the bill.
Regular charges are somewhat obscene as well. It's $30/day for the fitness center, $12.99 a day for internet access, $60 per person for the buffet, $8 for a cup of tea for room service, $12 for a cocktail, etc. etc. After awhile, I kind of felt like they always had their hands in my pocket and just were ripping us off because they could. (Add to the fact that the minimum for craps was $30 most nights and you'll get the idea.)
I would definitely stay at the Wynn again, the room was wonderful and the casino is stunning and it's a good location. But, if you're on a budget, stay away, and definitely don't go New Years Eve!
