We spent two nights there the week before Christmas. The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are spacious with all the bells and whistles: automatic shades, soaking tub, glass shower, etc. etc.

The service was unbelievably pathetic and pretentious. From registration on, it felt like we were a burden. One word answers. No pleasantries whatsoever. I spoke to several guests and we all agree: If your going to the Wynn, don't expect customer service to be included in your snazzy 400$ room. Do yourself a favor and be sure you're dressed up, look rich, and then they'll treat you like a customer. Walk up in jeans and polo shirt and they'll look at you like don't exist.

I was truly disappointed and by the second night, the cool curtains were long forgotten and we got the hell out of there and checked into the Bellagio. What a relief!!

Steve Wynn should throw on a Gap polo shirt and a baseball cap and see how HE'S treated at his own place.

  • Liked — The room, itself.
  • Disliked — Staffers, service

My fiance and I stayed at the Wynn Las Vegas for 1 night, just to see what it's like. The first thing that impressed me was the beautiful view of the golf course. The whole wall is a window and we had the best views. The bathroom had very nice toiletries, you don't need to bring anything from home. They had shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, shaving cream, hairspray, you name it. The bathroom has dual sinks and a separate soaking tub and glass-enclosed shower. When I first got there a lightbulb was blown out in the room where the toilet was, it's pretty dark in there already, so I called housekeeping in within 15 mins, someone came up and repaired it. The bed was very comfortable. They had slippers and robes for us if we wanted. We ate one of the restaurants, but I cannot remember the name. It was _____ Cafe. We were going to do the buffet, but there was a 2-hour wait for that. The dinner I had was fantastic and we had a peanut brittle sundae for dessert, which was good, but nothing to brag about.

  • Liked — Very luxurious, great location
  • Disliked — For being a 5-star, you would think that little things like a blown out light bulb would be taken care for before the room is given to a customer.

Summary:
Absolutely fabulous!

When and why we stayed:
For two nights in December 2006 during a trip to Las Vegas.

Cost:
$173:31 per night – booked direct with the hotel. This Winter Offer rate included a free upgrade to a panorama room and also attracted a $50 casual dining credit and $25 gambling credit.

Room:
We stayed in a panorama room (5133) on the 51st floor. We had expected an excellent room but couldn’t believe what we found – it was stunning – an apartment not a hotel room. It had a spacious living area; large lobby; and a massive bathroom. The centrepiece of the living room was the floor-to-ceiling window that offered spectacular views of The Las Vegas Strip and the Sierra Nevada mountains, behind sheer and solid curtains - drawn back and closed by a bedside switch. The room’s temperature was operated by a digital control. The room also contained a huge, king-sized, very soft bed; plasma TV; mini-bar (wine cost $24 for a half bottle); alarm clock with CD player; Warhol prints; five lamps; a comfortable sofa; marble table; desk with swivel chair; fax; and an ISDN socket. The lobby contained a huge mirror and a walk-in wardrobe (containing a safe and iron & ironing board). The bathroom, which had a separate toilet closet was vast. It had both a bath tub and shower cubicle; his-and-her basins; scales; and another plasma TV! The hotel was very generous with the complimentary shower gel; shampoo; soap; mouth wash etc. The gift shops sells baskets for you to take your supply home in

The Hotel:
The Wynn Las Vegas is my favourite hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip. It is grand but not elitist. We ate in The Buffet (comps for our casino play) where the food was of a very high-standard (especially the seafood) and The Terrace Point Café – indifferent service and nothing-special food. There are numerous (expensive) restaurants on the property. Make sure you have a cocktail at Parasol Down, sited by the Wynn waterfall, at the foot of a spiral escalator off the casino. The bar’s comfortable cane chairs are a vantage point to view the regular sound-and-light shows that are beamed onto the water. The hotel also has a Ferrari dealership for you to spend your casino winnings in.

Location:
On The Las Vegas Strip – opposite the Fashion Show Mall and Treasure Island - a quick walk from Bellagio.

The city:
Las Vegas is the greatest city on earth – there is so much to see and do. When a man is tired of Las Vegas, he is tired of life; for there is in Las Vegas all that life can afford.

Stayed at Wynn on a great deal for a panoramic room for $159/night.; Sun-Thurs. Dec. 10. Started as a romantic getaway with wife but deal was so good, 4 in-laws came. Had a great time despite Le Reve being dark and Tryst not open.

The room is great, but not as large as THEhotel (my favorite) or the Venetian. Great decor (though I don't understand it) robes and slippers. High Def LCD with a smaller one in bathroom.

View of the Strip was GREAT at night and mountains during the day were there equal.

Casino was not the largest but well laid out, with great, surprising loose, machines. Drinks came early and often. I didn't like that the poker room was near parking. Lots of gawkers stopping by.

We didn't eat at the upscale restaurants, but the mid-priced cafe was great. I hated paying $4 for a cup of coffee each morning, however.

The shops are over the top...that's the idea. $250000 bracelets, $20000 purses; they are not there to move volumn, but rather to give someone like me a story to take home.

Service is good; there were a couple of plumbing problems that were fixed immediately. While the front-line staff was solid, they do not rise to the level of 5 diamond or even a good Ritz-Carlton. I guess there are just too many people for them to have creative problem solving. Still, about as good as it gets in Vegas.

Bottom line: In the past few years we have stayed at MGM, THEhotel (twice), Venetian and the Wynn is by far the most elegant and my wife's favorite. You can spend a full day walking around looking at the hotel itself. They are now building the all-suites Encore at Wynn. We will probably check it out, but next in line is a jaunt out to a lake Las Vegas property and the Signature at MGM. For Lux Vegas lovers like us, Wynn is a must visit.

  • Liked — Over the top luxury and view from room.
  • Disliked — Cost and quality of coffee.
  • Tips/Secrets: — They place tickets to Tryst on the entry sign before it opens.

Stayed here from Dec 20 to 22. Beautiful room and bathroom with top of the line products. Everything in the room is exceent though am not wild about the layout; the desk faces the wall with the flat panel tv at the back - can't work on the laptop and watch tv or enjoy the scenery outside. It's noisy throughout the night with noise from nearby construction sites. it was not a problem for me because I only go to bed when I was dead tired. Service from the moment you step out of the cab to the time you depart in a cab was excellent.
Minor goof up between the Front Desk and The Red Card database when I went to claim my FreePlay at The Red Card and the Front Desk clerk resolved the issue very nicely.
