Having to go to Vegas, we thought we would try the Wynn, booked through AMEX platinum to qualify for Platinum hotel amenities. When we arrived at the hotel, it was confusing as to where you line up to check in. There was a mass of people but no line. I walked up to the desk but was told get in line, there was no line. Frustrating. As AMEX platinum members we were entitled to a lunch for 2. At checkout we were charged for the lunch and when asked, we were told our lunch charge was taken off, but that lunch was on Friday afternoon. The only issue was that we did not check in at Wynn until 10PM Friday night. Although completely obvious that we were charged for a prior guest lunch (their records indicated we indeed did not check in until 10PM), the manager simply stated that their computers do not lie and waved the whole thing off. Even more frustrating. If this hotel wants to play in the 5 star category, they need to seriously address their front office staff and practices.

Hotel room was very nice with a great view of Las Vegas Blvd. Bathroom was very nice with a small TV over the vanity.

I was offered a $139/night room rate through the Wynn players club along with a friends and family rate of $159/night. My husband and I stayed for 4 nights (Dec 2 thru Dec 6)for his 40th birthday along with two other couples.
Check-in was very easy--we all hoped to have rooms on the same floor, and our friends were placed on the 19th, however we checked in a bit later and no more rooms were left on that floor. We were placed on the 54th floor with amazing views--twist my arm to take that room! You know though, the 19th had the same views, same size room, same everything else--we were just a bit higher.
The room was very nice (standard room)--flat screen tv on wall in main room and bathroom, sofa, desk with fax (with fee), very comfortable bed, large bathroom with deep tub (large enough for two), separate large shower with seat, double sinks, and separate water closet for toilet. Did I say comfortable bed?!? Loved the bedding--was like sleeping in a cloud. No wi-fi, but there is high speed internet at $11.99 per day either via ethernet connection or on the tv. Towels are fabulous and very thick and plush, amenities were top notch--even included mouthwash, scale, hairdryer, iron, and large floor to ceiling framed mirror outside bathroom. And electronically controlled drapes! Fun! Terry lined robes and slippers, even an ipod alarm clock by the bed! So be sure to take your i-pod, if you have one. Nice selection of snacks and drinks in the mini-bar, but you are charged if you lift something and don't put it back within 60 seconds. Turndown is nice touch with chocolates, music set on tv, and slippers laid next to bed for you. I would've used the fitness center if it wasn't $25 per day, and my husband would have loved to golf but it was $500 per person to play the Wynn. He played Reflection Bay at Lake Las Vegas and loved it. He also played Badlands in Summerlin.
The casino is beautiful and well ventilated. I love Vegas in December with all the Christmas lights and decorations up. The grounds are very well manicured and maintained. Several choices for dinner, but very expensive (couldn't do it). We shared $13 sandwiches in Sugar & Ice deli --expensive in my opinion, but they were huge! We also ate at the other ZoozaCrackers deli by the Sportsbook - expensive, but shared everything as they have large portions. The food is top notch--very high in quality. The Terrace Point Cafe is open 24 hours - we had breakfast and a late night snack there - excellent food. I have a terrible food allergy to nuts, and the server at the Cafe told me that the Wynn is very aware of nut allergies. They are peanut free, do not fry in peanut oil, and will state on the menu if an item contains tree nuts. I was impressed! But I would still check every time I order to be on the safe side. The Buffet was incredible - the best dinner buffet in my opinion and well worth the $$$. TIP--If you open a new players club account and earn 25 points you get a free buffet! Ask the desk for details. For a breakfast buffet, though, the Palms is fabulous and less expensive. You can also walk to another casino for cheaper food--Treasure Island is across the street, and Venetian is next door with 2 food courts.
Be sure to watch the lightshow on the waterfall at the Lake of Dreams each half hour after dark. We didn't see La Reve - it is dark until December 26th, I think. Our friends got an online 2 for 1 discount for Spamalot which saved them quite a bit of money. They received a code word to call in to the Wynn reservations line. "runalot" was the word, but I'm not sure how often the word is changed.
We had a great stay, and despite the higher food costs we enjoyed the discounted room rates. We did not stay over a weekend, so we didn't encounter long lines at all--not sure of how busy it would be on a Friday or Saturday.
I would definitely stay again, though at a discounted rate only. The Wynn is great for a special occasion trip. Hope this review helps...

Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas is a beautiful facility, but it needs to work on its service. We had an 1800 foot square foot suite that was fabulous, but for over $700 it should have been! For that price I was surprised that when we checked in we were told to tote our own luggage through a huge casino to get to our suite. There were also neither fresh flowers nor fresh fruit in the room. I am normally not that fussy, but for that price I think I deserve a bit more special treatment than we got. My husband and I have traveled all over the world and for less than half that price we have received much better service. The restaurant Alex in the Wynn was terrific, both in food and service.

This hotel is amazing in every aspect! The hotel itself is very beautiful and breath taking. The service was great as well-- not so much in regards to guest recognition but the level that the staff was willing to go for you was impressive. The rooms are very nicely furnished with a lot of technology such as the curtains. I would love to get a full tour of this massive place! I would definately recommend this hotel out of every place on the strip!

Great dining options!!

WILL RETURN!!

“Everything but Check-In is 5-star”

Wynn Las Vegas

My husband and I stayed at Wynn Las Vegas for 3 nights, arriving on a Wednesday and checking out Saturday mid-day. I was there for a conference and we stayed in a Resort-level room at the conference rate of $199/night plus taxes. Upon arriving around 8:30pm on Wednesday night, we encountered the only rude employee we found amongst the literally hundreds staffed at the hotel. Although I reserved a room in August, she told me that they did not have my room class (non-smoking king) available and I would "have to accept a smoking room or pay for an upgrade to the Tower Suites". I refused to accept the smoking room (I have both asthma and allergies) and she became hostile, huffing and muttering and finally offering a room with 2 smaller beds. I also refused to accept this, mentioning that I booked my room months ago and it was not MY fault that the hotel planned poorly and oversold the class of room which I had booked. She stomped to the back room without so much as a word of explanation and emerged about ten minutes later, telling us that she "found a room". No apology, no explanation, etc.

Aside from this unpleasant experience (and after a long flight to boot), we found the rest of the hotel lovely. The staff were universally friendly and professional. The Resort-class rooms are beginning to show signs of wear (peeling wall coverings in the bathroom, stains on the carpet, and chips in the paint), but the beds are VERY comfortable and the bathrooms and bath products are first rate. Bath products are replaced daily and I loved the towels, robe, and comfy slippers. We were on the 25th floor which was outfitted in an array of salmon hues... rather ugly, but easy to overlook. The fitness facilities are first class, albeit expensive at $25 per day. We ordered room service on two occasions and it was fantastic, although again... pricey to overpriced for what you received. I found it annoying that there was a built-in service fee and 20% gratuity, yet the server stood around waiting for an additional tip.

The mosaic floors on the main floor are well worth a close look, and the conservatory in the middle of the first floor is stunning with all the holiday lights. If you want to go to Tryst, the amazing nightclub, stop by the concierge desk and request a complimentary admission ticket (good between 10pm and 12am). If you want to dance and have any room at all, go early. Two drinks cost us $28, but they were excellent.

Re: the conference facilities, they are a bit of a hike (10 minutes + at a brisk pace) from the rooms. The room temperature was kept at a comfortable 70-71 degrees, a very welcome change from the usual chilly 65 degrees at these types of functions. Beverage service was good and prompt, and breakfast was quite nice as well. I ate at the buffet for lunch one day and it was by far the nicest in Vegas, although as a light eater, I wouldn't say this is a good use of your funds unless the company is paying.

All in all, the Wynn is hard to top. Bellagio and the Venetian are very close and have perhaps better locations, but I'd definitely stay at the Wynn again.
