It's my one year anniversary since the fiasco I encountered at this hotel. Back then, THE Hotel was ranked number 3 (oh how the mighty have fallen). As of this posting, THE Hotel is number 13 and appears to be dropping fast. Back then, everyone was raving about this place and I remember one poster asking if he was the only one who noticed that "The Emperor had no clothes?". Well since that time, apparently the Emperor has apparently been seen nude by lots of posters. As I browse through many of the comments, it's amazing at how consistent they are with the bad service I experienced at this facility. Poor maid service, rude front desk employees, rude management, poor gym/spa layout (with those ridiculous red lights) and a pool that is about 3 times too small to accomodate its guests. People like to rave about the rooms and "ooh" and" ahh" about the plasma tvs which I think is laughable. First off, Plasma tvs are a dime a dozen now in Vegas. Not only are they not a big deal, but who goes to Vegas to watch tv? As for the rooms, I'd much rather have a spacious suite then two smaller rooms. Btw, the front room is laid out in such a way that you are only about 5 feet away from that plasma tv, so if you like watching movies from the first 3 rows, you should be right at home. Just an FYI, I mailed a letter of complaint after my stay and was given an executive suite at the Mandalay Bay. If I may say, that was a nice room. Ironically it is exactly the same cost as THE Hotel and was much nicer. But hey, to each his own. If you're into a lot of flash and no substance, this is the place for you. However if you want practicality, good service, and the feeling of being pampered, there are much better choices in Las Vegas.

Check in at this hotel is atrocious. Waited in line for about a half hour only to be greeted by a stuffy desk clerk with major attitude. My wife made reservations in her name; he wouldn't let me check in without her being present (we share the same last name). This meant I'd need to again wait in line for another half hour after locating her. Finally convinced the clerk to take care of the matter with a phone call. Fortunately, my wife answered the phone and confirmed I had permission to check in.

The lobby and elevator foyer were breathtaking. Very sublime and modern. Really liked the floors, woodwork, high ceilings, furniture, and light sconces.

Were expecting great things when we arrived at our room. Apparently the desk clerk's intellect isn't as big as his attitude because he had assigned us disabled accommodations next to a utility room reserved for housekeeping (very noisy during the morning and into the afternoon). We aren't disabled. This meant that instead of a marble encased tub and shower, we received fiberglass enclosures with cheap shower wands. Since everything is lower in this type of room (including light switches), the shower curtain on both the shower side and the tub side were ill-fitting, dragging about two feet on the floor! Very ugly, to say the least.

Outside of that, the suite was nice, the bed was comfy, and the air conditioning worked well. A full one bedroom with separate living/desk area. Furnishings are hip and appeared to be of some quality. Flat screens were a nice touch. View outside was nothing . . . parking garage and street running through the property. Another "thanks" to the desk clerk with major attitude.

Didn't use any amenities like the pool. The casino is nice, room service was fast, professional, and efficient. The restaurant located between The Hotel and the casino floor was good and the people were very nice.

Think we'll check out other upscale suites the next time we're in Vegas. This place was nice, but not overly impressive. Can probably do better for the same price somewhere else. Nothing here that makes us long to go back, that's for sure.

Just returned from a long weekend. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at THE Hotel. We arrived at 10pm on Thursday and had no wait to check in, with a very pleasant middle aged, knowledgeable member of staff waiting to assist us. Our requests at check-in were accommodated, with no hassle and no unpleasantries. Check out on Sunday at 11am presented a long line, but sufficient staff at the reception desk, consuming a total of 20 minutes of our time. They were quick and efficient.

Room 12909 was very clean. Maid service was excellent and tipped accordingly. In fact, all service personnel were excellent and responsive to requests. For those kings and queens out there who deserve royal treatment, who complain about bad service, a piece of advice - tipping service staff DOES make a difference to the quality of service you receive. They are not YOUR servants, they are people doing a job. These people bust their butts daily, with few who recognize their efforts and many who leave their rooms trashed. A minimal tip and a simple thank you goes a long way. Room service was quick - food well proportioned, hot, and delicious. (We were comped on our bill when charged to our room, which made it even better).

Although there are many complaints about the dim lighting in the suites, we found it very relaxing. With 2 bedside lamps, one pedastal lamp, and overhead canned lighting along the floor to ceiling, wall to wall window of natural light, it's as bright or as dark as you opt for it to be. The black-out curtains allowed for much-needed sleep well into the daylight hours, to compensate for the late nights, which we very much appreciated.

We frequent Vegas at least yearly and always stay somewhere new. Up until our stay at THE Hotel, Bellagio was our #1 pick. However, after staying at THE Hotel, we feel cheated for having spent the money at other "high end" properties, as no room we have ever stayed in compares to that of the suite we occupied at THE Hotel. It was very comfortable, contemporary, and the rich earth tone colors provided a relaxed ambiance beyond compare. Other rooms we have stayed in were simply a place to sleep. Our suite at THE Hotel was a place we looked forward to getting back to, to relax and reconnect. When leaving our room to relax at the pool, we turned our housekeeping light on and upon each return, our suite was immaculately cleaned and toiletries replenished in abundance. Again, minimal tipping makes a huge difference with service staff.

My husband and I are in our mid-30's and felt to be the mainstream at THE Hotel, as far as age is concerned. There was the usual fair share of 40 something's trying to keep up with the 20 something's - lots of plastic and collagen - so very LA. People watching is one of the free entertainment aspects we much enjoy and find great humor in, especially in Vegas.

Although a short walk to the casino in Mandalay Bay, the pools were quite the hike. With the size of this resort being considered, the walking distance should be expected. We opted for the South Lagoon Pool, which we had no problem staking claim on lounge chairs directly poolside. This pool is the farthest walking distance with steps leading up to it, which we found to be kid-free and more of an adult crowd, which was our preference. Cocktail waitresses were very attentive and drinks contained a generous portion of alcohol, so the 12 dollars per drink became a non-issue quick. If you walk through the convention center all the way to the end exit, you don't have to do the stairs and it is a more direct path to take. After cocktails at the pool all afternoon, the quickest path to A/C was our preferred path.

The Bayside Buffet breakfast was okay, usual buffet options. House of Blues breakfast was better and lunch was excellent too (burgers and boneless wings were out of this world awesome - although after many cocktails may have been the alcohol ;)

Zumanity was comedic, moreso than I expected. Erotic, sexual, and funny. Definitely a different edge and would not recommend for virgin Cirque viewers. This is NOT typical Cirque. If you are not an open minded, passionate lover, do not see this production, as it will likely leave you feeling violated. For those of you, like my husband and myself, you won't be able to get back to your room quick enough. I was a little disappointed in the Zumanity gift shop, however. After leaving the show, I was hoping for some fun toys in the shop to take back to our room.

Mamma Mia was AWESOME! Tickets were inexpensive and this was THE best musical production I have ever seen. Being an 80's child, big fan of ABBA, could see this one again and again. Highly recommend.

All in all, can't wait to return. For the first time ever, will not visit somewhere new, but definitely plan to return to THE Hotel. For comparable rates, no other hotel comes close to comparing.

Pros: 1) If you love to swim or be in the water, this is the hotel for you. There are multiple pools, fun wave action and a lazy river, and for the most part, I didn't consider them overly crowded, even on Saturday. 2) rooms were very average but the bathrooms were huge (although no locking door and a see-through shower - kind of odd) 3) cleaning staff very nice - I had several hold doors, smile and greet me each day

Cons: 1) Very annoying to me that in the OBVIOUSLY shallow kiddie pool area, drunk, scantily-clad adults chose to sit in the middle being very obnoxious plus I didn't appreciate their cigarette butts and beer bottles in the water - please, show some courtesy. 2) Elevator situation is bad - when busy you can wait up to 15 minutes to get on. When I inquired about stairs, I was told they are only used for emergencies and fire hazards - ummmm.....whatever. Like 20 people crammed in an elevator is any safer than a family of four willingly walking up stairs? 3) Room rates are too high - not enough bang for your buck. My brother stayed in a suite and I didn't think it was even all that roomy. 4) Since it is located at the end of the strip, there aren't many affordable options for eating close by.

Average rate - with a family, I wouldn't stay here again - I'd pay a lot less for a room somewhere in the middle of the strip and spend a day at a water park to suffice our swimming and water needs.

Before I visited THE Hotel I was overwelmed with comment about how great the hotel was, how gorgeous the suites are etc.etc. Lets be honest. The suites are not that bad, they are in fact large, well equipped and the design is kind of cool BUT too dark, not very clean and NOT as new as you think they are. My bathroom is suite 9916 had a broken toilet seat and the doors were somehow "not functioning properly". However what is really embarassinf with THE Hotel is the service. You cannot get more ignorant staff, bell service is sooooooooo slow, operators take for ages to reply and I can go on and on and on. Given that this is Vegs, this place is just OK but for the price, I would heat somewhere else on the strip.......
