This place is fantastic. We only sat at the bar and had a few cocktails, variety of appetisers and dessert. The tangerine mojito is to die for. I definitely want to come back for the full dinner.
I went to Aureole in early March 2007. Food was average. I went with 2 other dinner companions, and their veal special main course was undercooked. The dishes were sent back to the kitchen and "fixed." The service was above average. To compensate for the dinner, we got an excellent risotta dish and tons of desert. Wine list is extensive,
and we picked the place because we are learning more about wine. Unfortunately, the wine by the glass selection is VERY limited. We did get to see someone go up in the glass tower to get a bottle of wine. The bill for 3 people was $320 (3 course meal, one glass of wine each). We also got tricked into buying bottled water ($9 a bottle). When they ask you if you want still or sparkling water, ask for tap water! For the price, I don't think it was worth it, but I'm glad I tried it. For a better food/wine selection, I would reommend Rosemary's.
NBA weekend in Vegas was crazy. We waited 50 minutes to get a cab ride from Caesar's Palace to Mandalay. As we waited in line, I called Aureole to let them know we would be late arriving due to the wait for a cab. The hostess was so polite and said not to worry. Even though we were 35 minutes late on one of the busiest nights Vegas has seen in many years (or so I was told) we were greeted by Nancy, the manager and immediately seated in the Swan room, where we watched swans peacefully swim outside the window while we dined. The wine angels are very cool, but they aren't always in action, so consider dining in the Swan room. Our server was fantastic. After I ordered a split of champagne that we all thought that was rose and actually was brut, he brought both my husband and I a glass of rose champagne, even though we didn't complain! I thought it was very important to write this review because Vegas was so busy during the All Star weekend. We never felt valued as customers anywhere because we weren't spending $100,000 everywhere we went like some of the highrollers who were in town. The staff at Aureole treated us like rock stars the entire time. I made a point to call the manager to our table to compliment the fine service, and afterwards she sent out FOUR desserts to our table for the two of us to try! Not only that, they sent us home with two boxes of chocolates and an amazing cookbook. For someone who isn't a high roller, I certainly felt like one that night! Don't miss it!
The food and wine were excellent. The electronic interactive wine list tablet was a good experience, and the sommelier and steward were very attentive and helpful. It was a very long dinner (at least 2 1/2 hours). The only somewhat disappointment was that the wine angels do not ascend inthe glass tower very frequently, so you may not see any in action.
