First of all, I am a really big fan of Emeril Lagasse. I have dined at his restaurants in New Orleans and have always been over the moon about most of my experiences there. I was really looking forward to our meal at Delmonico's. However, it was extremely disappointing. What we had did not live up to the hype and was definitely not worth the price. Usually on Saturday or Sunday when I am in Vegas, I prefer to have brunch. However, this time I opted for an early lunch at Delmonico. We had a reservation at 11:30. We could see that the staff had arrived by looking throug the window, but they did not open up until about ten minutes later. A couple next to us only had a limited time before they needed to leave for the airport and had knocked on the door several times. I feel like the staff only opened the door because of this couple continuing to knock and peering through the window. Once we were finally seated about fifteen minutes after our reservation time, we found that there was one duo serving the entire restaurant. Instead of one person being assigned to some tables and the other having the remaining ones, our primary waitress explained that she and the gentleman were a team. They only had one choice for sparkling wine or champagne. It was $16 a glass and they barely filled up half of the glass. Sparkling wine or champagne is complimentary at many brunch places in Vegas. And I clearly expect to pay for this when I am not at a brunch, but it was way too pricey for the quality and the bartender was very stingy when he poured the glass. My husband had the lobster bisque and it was barely edible. For an entree he had shrimp linguine. He commented that the shrimp were good, but the pasta was overcooked and bland. I had the prime beef chili with rock shrimp. I would compare the chili to Wolf brand chili in a can. The shrimp were very small and were so heavily breaded that you could barely taste the shrimp at all. Clearly they were trying to create a South Louisiana taste with the heavy breading and seasoning, but they failed misreably. I believe that I can make that comment since I am originally from Louisiana. The only bright spot was the creamed spinach. But we were so disappointed with everything else that we totally skipped dessert even though that a lot of times that is my favorite part of the meal. The selections looked tempting, but I could not bear to spend any more ($10 for banana cream pie) for something that would likely not be up to par. I am truly stunned that Emeril would allow his name to be associated with this restaurant. I listen to him intently on the Food Network going on and on about food and he has been a judge on so many shows where people are trying out their skills. I believe in my 8th grade home economics class I was serving more elegant food that was much tastier and had much more flair. By the way, the couple who came in when we did could be heard commenting about the lackluster food. I would recommend that anyone who is considering dining here because they are expecting to have a nice experience skip it.
