Okay ... I read the reviews and I was pretty excited about going to the place, but when I got there ... not so much. The staff was very nice - John, Tony ... and the whole crew.

I admit, we didn't see a whole lot of the facility. I was there with a partner (one month into the relationship) and not looking for all of the three-way potentials. So we didn't see the steam room, video room, etc. We were just interested in the room itself, and pool with waterfall - and each other's company. The room looked pretty stressed ... the drawers needed to be slammed, otherwise they wouldn't close (sorry neighbors), the telephone didn't work (even after calling downstairs on my cell phone to ask for it to be fixed), and the purchased "pool view" room was just that ... from a third story room, you viewed twenty five percent pool, and seventy five percent parking lot (overlooking a downtrodden Vagabond Inn).

The bed - very firm. I'm not sure WHO designed that stupid trim around the bed, but it is the long-forgotten style of waterbed support railing that goes up to the top of the mattress. So be prepared for bruises all over your legs (and then some) for you and your partner.

Liked the staff - very helpful (except for fixing phones) - and very friendly when asking for Taxis and recommendations - because yes, you WILL be taking taxis. We walked one evening to the strip ... 40 minutes later with stinky body from immediately evaporating sweat in 9 p.m., 100 degree, 0% humidity climate. And THAT's why they give you a handy little spray can of complimentary Body Spray in your hotel room ... you will need it.

Would I do it again ... probably not. We aren't into the 'sharing' scene, so that's probably the biggest benefit of this type of facility. The other benefit, of course, is the ability to kiss, hold, and snuggle outside of your room in a public area without concern of public scrutiny. At a premium, you can also do this at upper establishments like the Palazzo - by renting a Cabana. We did this one day and had a blast. It's $400 per day, but it's always a fun option.

One other thing that "irked" me is lack of fore mentioning of specials on their website - I booked three nights at ~$130 per night. After I booked the reservation and arrived at the site, we found out they have a Summer Special ... book two nights and get the third night free. But you don't find out about this on-line special unless you sign up on their VIP guest site (free to sign up). Once we got there, they said that we couldn't use the "Special" since we had already paid over the phone and it had been "processed". SO SIGN UP ON THIER VIP LIST - if you are staying 3 nights ... it will save you $$.

The local gay guys seem to come for the Sunday BBQ (wieners and hamburgers) – so it was nice to meet some of the locals. Also, you need to walk two hotels down to the Artisan Hotel … it is a TRIP to see. They also recommend to eat there or have drinks – Blue Moon lacks a liquor license, and other than the Sunday BBQ, they don’t serve food other than continental breakfast.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Blue Moon for several nights on a recent trip to Vegas, we found this gay resort to have comfortable rooms and to be quite a good bargain.

Similar to other reviews if your looking for the Wynn, Bellagio, Venetian or even a five star resort in Palm Springs etc, the Blue Moon is probably not a good choice for you. If you are looking for a nice, comfortable, friendly inn with other gay men you will be happy. Blue Moon is a very friendly resort that was a nice change of pace to the larger Las Vegas hotels.

The room was a standard hotel room that was tastefully decorated, there were some nice features like a refrigerator in room and lots of tolietries (including toothpaste and body spray) in the bathroom. LCD TV's would have been a nice addition (I understand some of the suites have them but not the standard rooms). The wireless internet service was free and fast.

The common areas were very clean and attractive, the same can be said for the pool area. The large pool and spa was nice and there was a nice lunch (at no extra charge) on Sunday.

I found the staff to be helpful, polite and attentive, any requests we made was quickly addressed. The owner should be commended for being on-site and working a lot plus he was a very nice guy.

While the staff was friendly there were some "slips" of service and details. One day our room was not made up, we brought this to the staffs attention and our room was quickly cleaned. The Continental Breakfast varried a lot, some days it was spectacular other days sparse.

It would have been nice if the resort had a gym, at a hotel with lot's of gay guys having a place to work out would have been nice. It looks like they had one at one time but it was not functional any more. A few cardio machines and some weights would be a nice touch.

The "sexual temperature" of the resort was high to very high when we were there. If this is what you are looking for you would have been happy, we weren't so at times it was amusing and / or great entertainment at other times annoying. I won't hold this against the resort, I think they clearly stated the enviornment so it wasn't as if this was a shock to us.

Overall I would recommend Blue Moon if you are looking for a friendly, comfortable resort for gay men in Las Vegas.

I was apprehensive about staying here after reading some of the reviews. If you are expecting the Bellagio then you are going to be disappointed. If you are a less than average guy older guy who expects to be fawned over by young 20 somethings, you will be disappointed. If you expect to walk to the Strip you will be disappointed.

The Blue Moon is definitely one of the better gay resorts I have stayed at...and yes though its small scale, it fits the definition of resort. There is a lot to keep you busy here both day and night if you like that sort of thing :-) The room we stayed in was on the ground floor facing the parking lot. Despite what I read about the noise I didn't hear much of anything besides some men being a little loud in the hallways during the night. The bed was comfortable and the room size was more than adequate. The front desk seems to be manned most of the time.

I enjoyed my stay and will stay again next time I am in Las Vegas.

The Blue Moon is an old motel thats been given a new lease on life with a "remodel" that can best be described as a new paint job with tacky furniture. It is billed as a gay resort but calling it a resort is a true stretch of the word.
It is located in an industrial area, far from the strip or anything of importance for that matter, and thus is very isolated. Half of the cab drivers that I used during my stay in Vegas didn't know where it was.
It is known for being cruisy or others term as frisky, but the atmosphere is
often depressing as parts of it resemble a run down bathhouse with out if shape older clientele. The rooms are motel like with god-awful furniture.
Did not run into any cockroaches as other reviewers have complained of though.
The pool is clean yet small while the steamroom and nearby video lounge encouraged sexual behavior, which at times was risky, but without the conscience of providing condoms on hand.
Management appeared indifferent to requests made on several occasions.
If this were a resort, why not have a small space designated as an exercise room (oh, the nearest gym is 2 miles down the road). Why not serve a decent continental breakfast instead of the prepackaged bagels, and toaster waffles?
if you must come here, rent a car, and come with the expectations of an expensive motel for gay men where management is eager to take your money but provide you with little to enjoy.

Third time to stay here. The ground level rooms are definitely inferior to the upper story rooms. They charge a premium for pool value rooms but the constant music and other noise of the pool area always has me preferring the parking lot view. I do like this place, I find the rooms very nice and I appreciate all the freebies that they provide as gifts to the guests. I noticed some reviewers with comments about the lack of food - first of all this is a motel, what did you expect? But in recognition of the management, I would note they do provide a room service menu now with a number of offerings, though I did not use it. Speaking of food, breakfast on the first day was very limited, they had run out of nearly everything, including milk. The next day the breakfast had more to offer (cerals, Costco muffins, milk!). Terrible coffee on both days. I would stay here again, but I appreciate this place as a value property delivering a decent product for the price paid. The Hampton Inn Tropicana and Holiday Inn Express South Strip offer more comfortable rooms and better breakfasts but this time they were more expensive than Blue Moon. Also, if you are a geek with a lot of gear, beware that the large fixtures and extra lighting uses up all the available outlets in the room, I had to unplug one of the lights to have a place to charge my mobile phone.
