I visited the Blue Moon after attending a trade show on the Strip. Situated in an industrial area it is a bit remote so if you are flying into Vegas you can easily rent an inexpensive rental car to give you easy access to the Strip and other areas of Las Vegas. Plenty of free on-site parking and when traveling to the Casinos they all have free parking as well. I love to walk for exercise and felt safe walking the area daytime and nighttime. The resort is non-smoking. However if you are a smoker they do have a small area outdoors by the showers designated for smoking and they provide some seating.
The hotel was converted from a chain hotel a few years back. I see a lot of references to Travelodge and how the property remains the same. These folks have never stayed in a Travelodge that is for sure or they would not make the comparison. Perhaps they are frustrated that they did not experience as much extracurricular activity as they wanted. Not sure. I would say that if you are the jealous type and come with your boyfriend, partner, husband and do not play together or apart and get upset when he just looks but does not buy - this is probably not the place for you.
The staff were all friendly and very accommodating not only to me but I observed this with all guests be it check-in, housekeeping, pool area. They demonstrated a genuine commitment to the guest. I happened to be staying the first weekend of the season for the Sunday BBQ and that was a very fun experience - again the staff going out of the way to be helpful. The owner is on-site and very visible also checking up after his guests.
The property is kept immaculate - public areas on all three floors, the outdoor pool and grotto area and sleeping rooms are all well maintained. There is a small sitting area in the front lobby with both wireless Internet (in fact that is available throughout the property) and a PC - complimentary access. Further down the first floor hallway is a small day room with plasma television and an additional PC. Off to the side of that room is where the daily continental breakfast is offered. In addition there were daily offerings of fresh fruit which remained available beyond the breakfast hours.
Also located on the first floor is a video playroom, showers, steam room and guest lockers. They do get a decent number of guest/day&night visitors to add to the population.
The pool deck area offers an assortment of seating options from the traditional chaise to chairs and tables should you care to enjoy your meal or beverages pool side. The grotto area houses the Jacuzzi and provides a picturesque waterfall into one end of the pool.
The sleeping rooms are smartly furnished and the window treatments allow you to black out the room should you wish to sleep in late or catch a power nap. The bed frame does take a bit to get the hang of navigating it - but the handsome soft headboard makes up for that. The bathroom is small but efficiently laid out and they have the arc shower curtain rods so you feel that the shower is larger than it is. They also provide a generous amount of toiletry samples.
The pool area in particular is clothing optional. Once and a while a fellow guest would extend that into the hallways going to and from their room - but the majority of folks were either clothed or wore towels. If you've come to the hotel to play you will not be disappointed. The place in general is open for finding a new friends but in particular the video room and steam room offer something for everyone with lubricants and condoms available in the video room to keep it all safe.
Go and enjoy - the only thing Blue about this place is the water in the pool and Jacuzzi!
