My review of TUSCANY SUITES CASINO HOTEL/Las Vegas:

The very bad:

1) Bed sheets are so old and flimsy - you should take a sleeping bag.
For some reason, lots of hotels no longer have fitted sheets. So anyone over 5'9 will not be able to sleep well here.

2) Door handles stick - I seriously sprained my wrist trying to open both the outside door and inside room door. This has been an ongoing problem with Tuscany Suites.

The bad:

1) Housekeeping staff is too loud and noisy in the mornings;

2) Swimming pool closes at 10 pm and they literally kick you out. It makes no sense to have a swimming pool close in Las Vegas at 10 pm. Almost everyone complains about this.

3) Smokey casino

The good:

1) Nothing except the price. If you stay here at more than $35 a night, you paid too much.

Booked this hotel because we couldn't cheaper hotel in the Strip. Tuscany turned out to be better than other hotels in strip where I have stayed in the past. Tuscany is about 1 mile away from other major casinos. Since we had a rental car, it worked out well. If you are staying here, please do take a rental car. Good place for the price you pay!!

Because we won a two night stay at the Tuscany, I was expecting the hotel to be of two star quality. I was wrong. The room was very spacious and clean and the staff was very accomodating. I would recommend Tuscany to my friends and family and when I am in Vegas again, I will most likely stay there.

I chose Tuscany Suites because I got a great deal through Expedia - about $40 per night - and we don't mind being off the strip. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and we'd stay here again.
The upsides: The room was cheap, yet clean, large, quiet, and comfortable. The bathroom was nicely designed (very large with tub and separate shower). The restaurants were good and affordable - my husband especially liked the Mexican. The gift shop is open all hours and was very handy for forgotten toothpaste, magazines, booze, souvenirs, etc. The pool and hottub were very clean, plenty of chairs, radio music playing, open long hours (7am-10pm) and hardly any children at this time of year, thankfully. We purchased beers/coolers at a local mart (2 blocks away), kept them cold in our fridge, and brought them down to the pool area in a bag with ice.

We walked to and from the closest strip hotels (3 long blocks) - to Caesar's, Flamingo, Bally's, Bellagio. We walked to and from NY, NY and MGM but I wouldn't recommend this to everyone (about 2 miles). Lawry's Steak house is across the street. Tuscany is fairly close to the Hard Rock Hotel (about 3 blocks), which has great casino/lounge/nightclub/rock memorabilia/Nobu restaurant to check out. The Planet Hollywood buffet (Spice Market Buffet) is killer and highly recommended (voted best buffet for 2007).

Cab fares to Treasure Island, Wynn: $8, Fremont St. (downtown): $15, Premium outlet mall (downtown): $17.

The downsides: slow check-in, no shuttle to the strip so you must be able to trek fair distances. I would have liked a room with a balcony or patio - I suggest you request this if you'd like.
