The Tuscany Suites and Casino
255 East Flamingo Rd. – Be sure to get a package price from Hotels.com or Expedia [ same thing? ] or other on-line package seller. Book Monday to Friday for fantastic low cost! [ the Tuesday walk-in rate was $35.00, truly a give-away! ] You probably won’t find low-costs Friday and Saturday nights. The rental car is virtually free [ in a package ] except for the extraordinary fees and gas! You don’t need a car, but it is cheaper to book a car and save shuttle bus, cab and tram costs. You can walk from Tuscany to the Strip, but get a cab at night.
-- Tuscany is clean & convenient, not really full-service, but a good price for a large room.
-- Tuscany has double-size rooms with fridge. Ask for a room in building “G” or “H” to be close to lobby. Ask for Third floor to avoid noise. Drive around property if you can before check-in and pick a building you like, some near a pool [ two pools, one for laps only ]
-- Tuscany has a Casino, but it is humble and plain as plain can be.
-- The 24 hour restaurant will serve fresh food with friendly staff. Not fancy, but it’s OK.
-- Avoid the “Lodge Net” TV internet, it is a joke. Check your bill 24 hours before leaving to erase phony charges.

Very quiet, safe and clean environment. Had room on third floor, didn't hear a thing even though there were other guests around, no parking nor street around. We were on the third floor of building C, next to the main building. Got a room for $63 a night including tax.
HUGE room with two double beds, huge bathroom with shower AND tub, separate toilet 'room'. Coffee maker, small fridge and sink in room, no microwave. We took napkins, forks, etc from the snack shop. Toiletries (replaced every day), safe, hairdryer, iron, iron table, opening windows, good climate control, clean carpets, sheets and plenty of towels; not worn nor stained. Apparently the whole building is non-smoking, which was nice -no tobacco odor whatsoever.
Good snack bar for a quick eat, coffee; didn't use other facilities nor saw the casino: it was on the other side of the premises.
Well maintained surroundings, good security, each building has own door which you open with your room card key. Felt safe.
Rented a car for one day and found plenty of parking. The place is huge, with lots of 3 floor buildings. Looks like a time-share to me. Snack and refreshment machines in every building. Good sized pool, which obviously nobody used because of the cold.
Found strange that stairs had no indoor access, only way to go up was via the elevator, which was only one for the whole building. Let's ask the architect...
Didn't like:
1) We had an early check-in, and the hotel has the policy to charge $10 for this. This was annoying, but found out too late-after the 20 min walk with our bags trailing.
2) Very bad painting job in ceiling of room.
3) Toilet seat in very bad condition, screaming to be replaced. Clean but very worn.
4) Stained sofa; didn't go near it after seeing the stains for fear they would be urine stains...
Some people wouldn't like:
1) The Tuscany is a good, cold, 20 min walk from The Strip down Flamingo Road. A little solitary at night, but enough traffic to make you feel confident. By the way, no 'ugly or seedy neighborhood' as some reviews say. Just lots of parking and a closed gas station, which is being renovated. Saw one homeless sleeping on one of the bus stops, but you see these in any city and he was sleeping, anyway. It takes months for the traffic light to change, but very dangerous to cross the street with traffic. There is a bus along Flamingo Rd, with a stops very close to the hotel, and there are plenty of taxis waiting around the lobby building.
2) Limited tv channels, but we didn't come to LV to watch tv.
Definitely would stay there again; if you don't mind the distance to The Strip and want a little peace and quiet, this is the place for you.

“Take Ear Plugs! Noisy Air Vents. Long walk to Strip”

Each of the property's buildings has noisy air exhaust vents at ground level on one corner and they seem to produce noise around-the-clock. As the buildings are close together, it's hard to escape the noise. Take ear plugs to help you sleep.

I attended a conference at Ceasar's Palace and walked back and forth. It was a relatively long way. I felt safe, but it was an ugly neighborhood to be walking through. Not recommended for families. Take comfortable walking shoes.

Everything else was acceptable. Didn't try any of the on-site restaurants or bars.

This place is terrific. I had a wonderful time with my husband, we weren't far from the strip, so it was fun taking a (Cold) evening stroll to the Flamingo and Bellagio and seeing some sites. We ate at Marilyn's Cafe, our breakfast waiter, Eddie, (ask for him!) was the best, the food was okay, but you got a lot for your money. For the money spent, we got quite a deal, including a quiet room (we couldn't hear our neighbors), a "mom-and-pop" type operation with good homespun customer service and a genuine smile on almost all the employees' faces. Don't miss the place, you'll love it.

We stayed at Tuscany for 4 nites over Thanksgiving 2007. We had reserved the King room for 2 adults, 2 kids -- the sofabed wasn't made up -- the mattress was really stained. We called the front desk for bedding & were told the staff had gone home. After calling back again, we were offered to move upstairs & were assured the sofabed in that room was made up. We moved up & found that sofabed was not made up with sheets, etc. either. I called the front desk again & after another 30 minutes+, security brought me 1 sheet, 1 mattress pad, and a bedspread for a king bed that didn't fit the queen sofabed. The maid kept forgetting to change the sheets and I had to keep asking her again to change them. The room had a large crack in the ceiling & wall, like it wasn't structurally sound. Outside the pool was open, but too cold to use, and the concrete walkways were always dirty. I was locked out one evening late at night after I went to the car for more blankets & pillows because the exterior door on the building (G) wouldn't open with my card key. Another couple arrived about 10 min. later & also could not get in. Eventually, an employee came out of the elevator & I flagged him to let me in. (I had forgotten I could walk down the parking lot & try to get in at the end of the other building & I had left my cell phone in the room). My daughter (age 20) described the rooms as very "Ghetto".
The only thing that I can recommend is having the parking so close & accessible to the rooms, although the good spots usually fill up early & if you drive for a show, you will end up parking on the outside loop.

I almost forgot, one night we ordered a large pizza from the pizza snack bar/pizza spot they have that services the pool, sells coffee drinks, and more and we got major diarreah after eating the pizza. We ate some meals in the Coffee Shop inside, like breakfast and late night snacks, and they were pretty good.

One more comment, for families, the rooms usually have two double beds -- we think they are way too small for adults to be comfortable, and this is really unnecessary since the rooms are large enough to accomodate two Queens. This is a major complaint for us. That is why we booked the King room with the Queen sofa sleeper for the kids. They normally don't put mattress pads on the sofa bed mattresses & they are all stained up & gross. I wouldn't ever go back.
