Didn't stay at the hotel, just dropped in to see the decor and visit the casino. I thought the decor was overwhelming and really didn't remind me of New York at all. It felt very dark ( unlike the real Times Square even in the middle of the night). The servers on the casino floor were less than happy to be there, and the slots did not pay at all- seriously at all.

The positive is that there was plenty of free parking and the MGM Grand is right across the street and just a quick walk over the pedestrian bridge.

I rode on this roller coaster when I had first arrived in Vegas, it's simple and fun

Went on the RollerCoaster at the NY NY Hotel. I was looking forward to it. The queue was long but quick moving & there were lockers for your belongings (before you queue!) it was an exhilarating coaster but OW! It was very rattley & my shoulders and shoulder blades were quite bruised after. They could do with extra padding on those restraints! But a good ride!

We visited several casinos on our trip, and just because we were at one time from New York State, we decided to walk inside New York, New York Casino to see what was in there. Sure, there's a roller coaster on the front of the building that was probably fun for those who like it, and there was a Statue of Liberty and a New York Skyscape (prior to 9/11) at the street, but otherwise, it was just another casino. In fact, we found it to be the least exciting of all we went into. There were some very overpriced stores with New York-ish type names, and "New York-style" pretzels and pizza, but there wasn't anything that drew us in to stay longer than we did. In fact, I was a bit surprised that there wasn't a Broadway-type area or show center--if there was, we missed it. We've been to New York--this isn't it. If you are just trying to give tourists who have never been (or will never go) to New York an "idea" of what it's like, it's not happening here.
