I played Bali Hai a couple of weeks ago (July 25, 2007) and was surprised at how bad the condition of the entire course was in. The last time I was there was about four years ago and thought it was truly one of the most beautiful and well-maintained courses I ever played. Unfortunately, they have decided to allow the maintenance of the course to rival municipal venues. The service has also gone downhill dramatically. The person who checked us in at the pro shop in the afternoon was rude and could not be bothered with customers. It seemed once we got outside the attendants were not going to be friendly without a large tip to start off the round. On a scale of 1 - 10, Bali Hai was once a 9-10, but now is no more than a 4-5. What a disappointment. Hopefully a change of staff will bring back the luster of the service and course. Good luck.

Challenging golf course for a high handicapper like myself; undulating fairways and the greens are difficulty to read; service is excellent, very convenient since I stayed at the Four Seasons next door, but ...

It is overpriced! You pay 195 dollars (Summer/AM) and you figure you would get GPS on your cart. NO GPS here. You have to pay 5 dollars for a yardage book which is difficult to read. It is difficult to find the sprinkler heads.

You also figure for the price you pay that there would be "misters" on the tee boxes to beat the heat. Nope!. The marshall did come by once to offer an ice cold towel for free. Yea!

The decor inside the restaurant/clubhouse is beautiful if you are into that. The driving range is cool, the balls come up from the floor automatically on the tee.

They do give you free ball markers and they do give you a free gift if you give them your 411.

Played July 27, 2006. Layout was challenging, played from the back tees (7,000 yds) to get most real estate for my money. The course layout has varied terrain with lots of trouble (sand and water), but each hole is well thought out with many interesting possbilites for scoring. The fairways were in great shape, greens had been aerated not too long ago, which detracted on some holes. Expected the bunkers to be softer sand, but once you get the feel its OK. Scenery with Mandalay Bay in background in the midst of the tall palm trees on the course was beautiful. For a course that is only six years old, the landscape plays like an older, more mature course. The staff was great, and even though we played for $75 due to the time of year and the temperature, we were treated like we paid full price. The desert heat at 100+ degrees felt very hot, but there was a pretty constant breeze which made it tolerable. The noise from the jet airliners constantly flying overhead is difficult to get used to, particularly when your on the green trying to concentrate on putting. Considering the airport noise, I think the regular price would be too high for me. This trip was my first experience with golf in Vegas and courses like Bali Hai will bring me and my wife coming back for more!

I am a 10 handicapper and I actually liked the course. However, this is Las Vegas and the course is at the end of the tarmack at Mccarren Airport. This is not a setting for golf. There are planes taking off every few minutes. On number 7 I actually felt the green rumble between my feet, when a plane was taking off. The planes taking off is not an every now and then situation it is happening the entire time every few minutes. Leave this one for the unskilled traveler @ $200 pp

The course is well maintained and beautiful in places, however no course can withstand the experience of 747s taking off directly overhead at an elevation of under 500 feet. This occurred with a frequency of about every thirty seconds.

Secondly, the MGM/Mirage properties use this course for many of their high rollers. Consequently, you get foursomes of golfers who are EXTREMELY SLOW, but large enough gamblers that the staff would never think to hurry them along. The result, a 5+ hour round of aircraft and helicoptors directly overhead. At the conclusion of the round, I wanted nothing more than to lie alone in a quiet room.

As a result of the location, directly on the Strip, you are forced to pay $300 to play a course whose value is closer to $100, and actually zero since no one should be forced to play under those conditions. If you have the option, pay $1000 and play Shadow Creek twice.
