Like many other folks, I was very nervous about my selection to stay at the Imperial Palace. I agree the place can be a maze and that it is very old and not as fancy as some places on the strip. But the price and the location were perfect. I made sure to ask for a quiet room on the opposite side of Harrah's and after visiting that area in the evening I was very glad we did. We were traveling with two teenagers and after about 11pm they were back in the room ready to relax. We went to the doughnut place downstairs and it was expensive (like anything else) but it served its purpose. We also went to the Pizza Palace upstairs and it was a little on the slow side as far as service goes, but the food was fine. The room was clean and comfortable. I was afraid it would have a smokey smell like the hallways, but it was fine. We figured out early the closest elevators to our rooms and never once used the main ones by the casino. I do not recommend those what so ever. There was always a huge line. It was a little bit of a walk to get to our elevators but we never once had to wait and there never were other people in them. We highly recommend the car display upstairs. Very neat. The coupon books in the lobby have coupons that you can take up to the rewards desk and get free passes. Worst thing about the whole place, and its no different in any of the other hotels is the people waiting to try and swoop you into looking at their time shares. You'd think if we had passed the same way three times in the last hour & half she'd remember we weren't interested. Very annoying. Other than that, as long as you understand going in its not the Ritz, you'll be fine.
