I am writing 2 reviews for our stay at Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino.

On our arrival, we requested an upgrade to a suite room. We were offered the 1-bedroom suite. They call their suites penthouse suites. I remember ours to be PH32. These are located on the top floors of the hotel. We chose this hotel mainly because of my cousin's wedding which will be held here. This is my first time to stay in this property.

The reviews here saying all about the slow elevators are true. And we got lost the first time we were going to our rooms because this hotel is a series of buildings bundled together. The story I will tell later LOL

We spent one night on this 1-bedroom suite. It has 2 levels. The lower part has a sofa, dining table for 4 persons, a wet bar and a bathroom. On the upper part, there is a huge master's bedroom and a huge ala movie star type of bathroom.

I can say the room has seen better days. I was surprised by the aircon unit in the room because it seem older than I am and when I switch it on, it won't work. I had to call maintenance to fix it.

I think this suite has not been occupied for a while because I could sense it has not been vacuumed recently. I am allergic to dust.

We ordered room service for dinner because we no longer want to go out having had a long flight from Manila. The food is good I must say. We had roast beef with mashed potato & gravy. Some salad and soup. One order is good for 3 persons I think! The staff even provided 2 buckets of ice.

Good thing we flew 1st class to Las Vegas because I can't sleep well since my sinus is acting up, reaction to dust.

For breakfast, we went to Emperor's buffet. I totally agree with reviews here that their omelet station is good. This is the best omelet I ever had! Even my dad loved it we went for seconds. The Emperor buffet is cafeteria-like in appearance. No pretensions here. But I love it. We had all our breakfasts here.

But dinner is a different matter. We tried dinner here once because my grandma is already tired. We rented a wheelchair from the hotel which is good for my grandma going around. Back to dinner, it is not good.

There is also a small convenience store at the end of the lobby and a small coffee shop with cofee & donuts.

Our room was very dingy. The TV was older than the hotel: no cable. The buffet breakfast was very poor. The manager would not change the room. The value was poor - $200/day. Stay away.

I have stayed at IP several times, and it is not four star. That being said it is a good hotel, with a nice staff (pit bosses and blackjack dealers are above par), and a great location. We just stayed there the weekend of the 11th, and found the room to be as good as I have stayed in at Luxor for example. The bed (king size) was very comfortable, the shower/water pressure was good, and the elevators are even working faster. If your looking for a hotel on the strip, and want to save a dollar for the reason your in Vegas ( good food and to gamble) give IP a try.

We were there for a football weekend, and also found the Sports Book to have some of the best proposition bets. Would recommend making your bets here.

DId the Legends in Concert (Comp tickets) I would say to skip that unless you get a comp.

Also ate at Embers there are much better fine dinning places in Vegas. Use the money you save on the room to eat at one of them!

We were in Vegas for New Year's Eve. We wanted to stay on the Strip, but couldn't find much for a decent price at the last minute. The IP is probably the cheapest hotel on the Strip. The location is great, but don't expect anything fancy...heck, even "clean" might be an overstatement. The casino/lobby is smokey, dirty, and claustrophobic. But if you are in Vegas for a good time - ie. spending most of it outside of your hotel room, then the IP is fine for the price. We booked a "deluxe" room with a king bed. When we arrived, it didn't appear to be deluxe, nor was the bed a king. We complained, so they gave us some free buffet and drink coupons. We wouldn't have paid to eat at the IP Buffet - pretty much a family feed bag...maybe even an upcoming episode of "Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares". In conclusion, it's okay to stay at if you just need a place to crash. In fact, if you are going to be there, get out of the IP and to the other sites. I wouldn't be surprised if to hear about an IP implosion within the next few years.

“Imagine paying $200 for a Super 8 or Motel 6”

Imagine staying at a low-end hotel such as Motel 6 or Super 8. Now imagine paying $150-$200/night for the room. We were there for CES so I guess this was still "cheap" for that week, nevertheless, it was still shocking to pay that much for this level of quality.

The best thing about the hotel is its location. Very easy access to the monorail. That's obviously the only feature that has allowed it stay in business.

Hotel decor is a bizarre fusion of Chinese, Japanese and Polynesian influences. The kind of decor one might come up with if they had never been to Asia at all.

I checked in in the evening and got a room on the 9th floor right on the front side of the hotel. I had read other complaints about the disco and yes, it's loud. Really loud. Louder in the room than at street level. And the place is open until 4am. So I debated whether or not I could stand it and decided to head back down to ask for another room. I got back down and the option they gave me was a smoking room. So my choice was smoking room vs very loud room. I rolled the dice and took the smoking room. I got to the room and it didn't smell as bad as I feared. I cracked open the balcony to get some fresh air flow. The heater was also like a Super 8 or Motel 6 with a loud blower on the unit. This didn't bother me so much but it might annoy some people.

The whole hotel is like a maze, especially up on the floors where the rooms are. I didn't feel comfortable with the layout. Felt like a firetrap to me.

The room didn't have any amenities except soap & shampoo. Not even a coffee maker. Even worse, it doesn't even have a lock box for one's valuables. In particular, I wanted to lock up my laptop. I took my chances and left it in the room and, fortunately, nothing went missing. TV was very small. Maybe 19" max. I haven't seen such a tiny tv in a hotel room in years. Bed was low quality but I was so tired that I didn't have any problems sleeping. Had to pay $10/day for the priviliege of using the hotel's wireless Internet system. It said I had a good connection but the performance was very poor throughout my entire stay. Frustrating to pay money for a connection like that. (Right now I'm on the much better free WiFi connection at the airport.) Elevators were slow but bearable for me.

Ate one night at the seafood restaurant The Cockeyed Clam. It was pretty decent and everybody seemed satisfied with their meal. They closed early and then spent the next hour turning people away while we ate. Poor planning for such a busy week such as CES week.

Had one lunch and one breakfast at the Emperor's buffet. It was relatively cheap and the food was good enough for the price. $10 breakfast and $12(?) lunch. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there but it was convenient. Also had one meal at the Burger Palace. I thought it was going to be like a bar with bar food but it was literally a fast food restaurant. Line up, order, get your meal on a plastic tray. For a quick cheap, bite it was sufficient. Again, not a place I would go except for convenience.

For the location, I'd consider staying there again but only after exhausting all other choices.
