I booked and paid a US $750 deposit for a July 2009 wedding about twelve months ago. Being from Australia, we wanted to make sure we'd booked the chapel we wanted, and have ample time to arrange the reception - also to be held at Cupids.I should have known better when even the initial contact with Cupids was difficult. They have a skype number - which they never answer. There is no email address on their website. I eventually had to pay a premium and ring them directly. I was put through to our wedding co-ordinator, Kathy, who sounded like she had lost interest and passion in people's weddings and I found myself feeling guilty for asking even basic questions. When I rang back for Kathy another time, I spoke to a very rude man who sounded in his 50s and was very condescending and spoke to me as though I was a child. Finally, I got some basic email confirmations from Kathy - who never uses her last name in correspondence. Putting these issues down to my imagination, I then waited about 10 months to make contact again with Kathy. I sent her an email in March asking pretty basic questions - I'm a pretty laid back person - but I think most people organising a wedding would like to know things like how much does the DJ cost, and what time will the limo pick us up.I got a reply saying she'd reply later - but I never got a reply. I then emailed her late April, still giving her the benefit of the doubt, and still have got nothing to this day. By huge contrast, I organised an entire wedding in 48 hours with another company (message me if you'd like their name). They were friendly, committed and passionate. Everything is organised down to what the middle layer of our three-tiered cake will be made out of - and its icing. That's the kind of service and attention we got from this other mob. Plus they were just so nice, they made me feel really special. Kathy only ever made me feel like I was inconveniencing her. Please learn from my experience and avoid Cupids! If you want a quick wedding from a dime-a-dozen chapel, Cupids will do (just) - but if you are inviting guests from interstate or overseas and having a medium-sized reception - you'd be wasting your time. I did my homework and found out that Cupids makes so much money from the quick ceremonies that it is, evidently, too much of a hassle to bother with people organising larger weddings.
