I just attended a conference at the Paris Hotel and Casino. The room was very nice, however the facility appears to be understaffed. Coffee and water service at the conference were inadequate -- serving pieces seemed to always be empty. The food services at the hotel grossly understaffed and everything, (the cafes, bakery, buffet) had long lines day and night. Just buying a cup of coffee was a minimum wait of 10-15 minutes. The convenience store in the hotel is so cramped that only 2 people can stand near the counter and the line was always 6+ people deep. The facility has plenty of shops, without many shoppers, but each staffed with a sales person. Maybe they could redirect some of the staffing out of the retail stores and into guest services.

Conference price for the room was $150 per night, but I got a $119 rate via the Paris website -- so if you are going there for a function, take the time to check alternative booking options.

I stayed here for 4 nights during a professional conference. Overall I enjoyed my stay, but there were a few things I disliked. The room was great--spacious with comfortable bedding and large marble bath with shower and tub! I didn't like the $1.25 charge to access an 800 number. The hotel was so busy it was hard to get served a meal during normal meal times. The vegetarian crepe from the Creperie was awful--the filling was cold and the crepe was covered in some beige goo. The pool was wonderful--large with abundant chaises. The hotel/casino was much more interesting than many of the other Vegas establishments. I used the same path to and from the conference sessions, so it was enjoyable to pretend I was walking along a Parisian street. Much better than Bally's where the only sights were a casino and hotel desk. The Sidewalk Cafe at Bally's had a slighter cheaper breakfast than the restaurant at Paris--especially the great Boulevard Sampler. (Bally's and Paris are interconnected so I avoided the 100 degree temperature outside.)

We stayed at Paris just before Easter and were impressed overall. The quality of the room was great; the marble bathroom was beautiful and the beds were very comfortable. It was surprisingly quiet too.

It's an LONG walk from the carpark to the reception area and with luggage it's a bit of a struggle making one's way through the crowds in the hotel; we were there on a weekday and I imagine at the weekend this really would not be funny. Might be worth considering the valet parking at the front entrance to avoid this.

The hotel had lots of shops and restaurants but first thing in the morning there were queues everywhere for breakfast and we had to go elsewhere. Probably worth ordering breakfast to your room.

The in-room internet access worked fine but was a little over $10 per day.

Despite these little niggles we did really like the hotel and would definitely stay here again, certainly it was very inexpensive for such a nice room.

If you want to truly experience rude staff and desk clerks, then by all means, I recommend the Paris Hotel for your vacation. We normally stay at the MGM everytime we go to Vegas (because we normally get lucky at their casino) but this year, we said "let's try somewhere different!". Boy, did we make a mistake. We choose Paris because of the location and the reasonable deal offered by Expedia. Upon checking in, we were told that the non-smoking rooms we requested are not available and the only rooms they have left are all smoking rooms! My aunt has health issues and being in an enclosed room with cigarette smoke is a big problem. We had booked all four rooms as non-smoking but our main concern was our aunt so we asked the desk clerk to find at least just one room for her and were told there's nothing they can do. We then asked if a non-smoking suite is available and we would just pay for the upgrade and again was told no without even checking. We then asked the clerk what other options are available and she said go to another hotel! It was already around 9 o'clock at night and the last thing we want to do is go look for another hotel after a long day. We asked to speak to a manager because I know that hotels always keep some rooms available for their VIPs who might drop in unexpectly (my friend is a hotel manager in San Francisco). The desk clerk refused and instead said she will talk to the manager for us and see if there's anything. She came back about 15 minutes later and said the best they can do is to comp us for a free breakfast buffet and offered to switch our rooms to non-smoking the next day. At that point we were all tired and without any options so we took it and hope that our aunt would be okay for the night.

That leads me to the buffet the following morning. We had to get up early because we technically have to check out of our smoking rooms and check back in to our non-smoking ones. Another big disappointment. There was not a whole of selections and the service was horrible. Rude is the only word to describe them. In fact, that's the one word that keeps repeating throughout the entire Paris Hotel experience. Needless to say, we would not go back to that hotel again due to the rudeness of the staffs . The only saving grace is that the hotel itself is very nice and the hotel rooms and bathrooms are decent.

This is really an indictment of ALL of the Vegas strip, rather than just the Paris Hotel. The hotel was nice. The rooms were adequate - nice bathrooms. However, the room was expensive...but consistent with the rest of the strip hotels. Las Vegas is going to price itself out of existence if they don't watch it.

This will be my last trip there. From $9.50 hamburgers to an $11 elevator ride (to the top of the fake "Eiffel Tower", it just doesn't make sense. It was crowded and noisy and trashy (literally and figuratively). The trafffic is unbelievable. We gave up on taking cabs to any location, no matter how far the walk was.

We met three other couples there, all of whom have been to Vegas numerous times. All of us agreed that it will be our last trip there.

One exception! The Danny Gans show at the Mirage is worth every penny - excellent.

Jim
