This was just my second time in Vegas, and first time staying on the Strip. Chose this hotel at the advice of a friend who's got more experience than I did, and it was a great choice. The Red Room Luxury room was large, comfortable, and colorful. All that we were hoping for. My wife was very comfortable - probably much more so than she might have been in a fancier hotel for what we would've gotten for the same amount of money. We chose not to upgrade for $50 a night to a room that would've had a view of the Strip, deciding that was too much. My only regret with that is that we would have had a better view of the Bellagio fountain show - one of the biggest and best free attractions in Vegas, I think. Overall the hotel was clean, not excessively smoky (in those areas where you can smoke), and had a decent variety of food options. I was told the Stratosphere was a better view of the Strip than the Eiffel Tower, but after going up in the tower (free with the coupons we got from the hotel), I disagree - the view from the Eiffel Tower (which is half as tall as the original) was great!
The buffet (Le Village) was very good - key tip: pay the extra $5 to jump the line via the Express Lane. We lucked out - we missed this sign when we first got in line, and I only saw it when I went to take pictures of how long the line was. We saved maybe an hour and a half that way. Yeah - those lines are no joke.
The huge Pina Colada in the plastic Eiffel Towers are fun, but be careful! 3-4 Pina Coladas' worth of sugar (and brain freeze) will take a toll!
Being in the middle of the strip was great. We could walk to the shops at the Venetian and Caesar's, cab it to Mandalay Bay easily, and walk right across the street to see "O" at the Bellagio (which was fabulous). Another key attribute of Paris - it's not nearly as vast as some of the other properties on the Strip (Bellagio, Caesar's, MGM Grand, and the Venetian), so it won't take you 20 minutes to walk from your room to the front door. Walking through a hotel isn't like truding through a swamp, of course, but after you've been walking a few miles going around the Stirp already, it's nice to be able to get to your room fast once you're back to home base.
Didn't go up to the Eiffel Tower restaurant, but heard they've got great souffles.
