I'm only gonna talk about the hotel, not the casino. Paris was even better than I imagined. People sure do have a lot of picky (bad) things to say, but it was a great hotel. We booked through Continental's vacations packages and got free flights basically, so I did not mind paying full price for our room. We did the advance check in (called from the airport before our plane took off, four hours in advance) which let us waltz right up the front of the ambassadors line and get our keys in two minutes. The crystal chandeliers in the lobby are unreal. So pretty and bright! I hate dark lobbies. Our room was on the 19th floor with views of the balloon, Aladdin roof top, MGM, Mandalay Bay, and partial strip and Bellagio. If you want a better view, ask, or go somewhere and look at the view. We did not care where we slept. The room was huge, immaculaltely clean (of course we were on a nonsmoking floor), and had nice decor (though half of the fixtures in the bathroom were gold, half were silver). The TV cabinet/armoir was huge enough to put away all of our clothes and there was a couch, chair and ottoman, desk and another chair, safe, and everything. I stayed at the Fairmont in San Francisco last year and this room at Paris was nicer, newer, bigger, and cost 1/2 as much, if that gives you perspective. We did not hear any noise whatsoever. And, we called the housekeping dept. a few times to request linen changes and they did whatever we asked without bothering us. The cleaning staff on our floor was very nice and professional too. The pool was nice and big and had plenty of space and chairs (I heard lots of complaints about this at other hotels, too bad). The cleanliness of the pool water left a little bit to be desired, but I guess that's what happens when you allow people to drink and eat right in the water if they want and you've got kids as lifeguards who never say a peep or get off their butts. The topiary garden could use a little work (TI and the Mirage has much better flowers), but the spray jets keep things cool if you park yourself right by a planter. As far as food and drink service goes, the hotel has a lot of choices. We ate at JJ's twice since it was so convenient, not too expensive, and had a variety. I got a crepe once at the creperie, it was good even at midnight. We made reservations for Mon Ami Gabi one night (don't be one of the fools who shows up at 8pm and has to wait with 100 people to get in) and it was fabulous. The best filet I've ever had. Knowledgeable staff. Did everything we asked for. If you want cheap food on the go, go downstairs to Bally's at pick up breakfast or lunch at Johnny's deli (they were so nice to us there) or pizza at Sbarro. Sure it's mall fare, but that's why it's fast and cheap. If you don't want to pay five bucks for a coke at the pool (let alone about $10 for a cocktail that would be free if you played in the casino), stop at the soda machine and get a cup of ice on your way down to the pool (there's one on each floor). It's only $2. They give out nice plastic cups everywhere (the Mirage gave us two cups for everything, they must want their name out there), so reuse them the next day. If you want a free sandwhich with your booze, go to Napoleon's for happy hour 4-7pm everyday. Also, carry your connection card everywhere. I went shopping in the Paris and Bally's shops the last day we were there and didn't have my card, and would have gotten an extra 10% off.
All in all, go to Paris- it's worth it. Even my impatient husband liked it. The cobblestone brick walkway did not bother me, no one was grumpy and Parisian, and the elevator music is FINE. So beautiful and classy but not stuffy.
