We travel to Vegas 2 to 3 times each year and have gotten pretty familiar with the various resorts. I'm very picky about my accomodations even in Vegas where many people will say "the room does not matter". It matters to me. We spent two nights at the Paris back in May 2008 supporting a corporate function. A block of rooms were reserved for the event at a $99 rate. This was mid-week mind you. When we arrived we were told there were no more King-non smoking rooms available at the corporate rate and if we wanted a K-NS room we would have to upgrade to a "view" room for a $70 per night upgrade fee. We were not happy but we took it. The now $169.00 per night "mid-week" room was discusting. It was old and tired with soiled carpet and torn fabric on the chair and draperies. After several attempts with management they miraculously located another K-NS room. We were moved to a renovated room which was a bit more worthy of the $169.00 per night rate. We know Vegas and for $169+ per night mid-week we could have been at a number of other 4-5 star properties. We felt "scammed" and lied to. Although our final desitnation room was very nice, updated, and clean we will never return to Paris. Be careful if you choose Paris as the rooms are not always as represented. Make sure you tell them you don't want an old dirty run-down room!

  • Liked — Once moved we liked the newly renovated accommodation.
  • Disliked — Original room was old, dirty and run-down...

Las Vegas - Sept 08

Hi, this is my first review as I am new to this web site. This web site has been very helpful in choosing my upcoming vacation. Thought this information on this recent trip to Vegas and other trips to Vegas would be helpful. My wife and I love Las Vegas we go mostly for the pools and the nightlife not so much for gambling. It"s a quick 4 day vacation, we have stayed in many different Hotels, the best Hotel has been Ceasars but right now there is construction going on, building a new tower by the pool do not know if the tower will block the sun. If you stay there I recommend you stay in the (Palace Towers) it is right by the pool entrance, you don't have to walk through the Hotel to get there like many of the other Hotels. Pure Night club was very expensive, no seating at all unless you go for the bottled service, starting at $400.00 per bottle, you will get a seat and a hostess to wait on you. recommend cleopatra barge no cover charge live band and can sit and dance. Paris hotel our last visit rooms not so clean, the pool was very plain, but roomy. Most Hotels set up chairs so close you can't move, so this was nice about Paris Pool. We took a small cooler this trip, the best thing we did, filled up with bottled water and beer with plastic cups. The drinks again at the pool are quite expensive. MGM pool is nice but long walk through everything just to get there. Had good time at Studio 54. Luxor, bad experience , hallways and rooms not cleaned, had to keep asking to clean. Went to Ra nightclub it was really good. The Rio Hotel has a great bar called the Voodu Lounge it's very high up and overlooks the city, beautiful at night. Everything seems to get more expensive, one more recommendation, taxis at airport seem to take the long way to Hotel, but on the way back to the airport the short way. So hope this info is helpful.

We stayed here for the first week of our honeymoon and were not disappointed. The room we were allocated was on the 26th floor and had a partial view of the Bellagio Fountains and I think must have been recently renovated as looked very fresh. It also had the biggest LCD TV I've ever seen!!
The location of the Paris is great as you're right in the middle of the strip so easy to get to everything.
I would definitely stay here again.

We just returned from a four night stay at the Paris Hotel. I was really looking forward to staying at the Paris for the first time. Previously I had stayed at the Mirage and Venetian. We booked a Calais Suite for just under $700/night. This is not chump change. We walked into the suite and found it to be rather small. As others have mentioned, the furniture and carpet were so shabby and dirty, I wouldn't let my dog sit on it. The sofa was particularly disgusting. Buttons were missing from the tufted upholstery and fabric was pilling on the chairs. The thing that really got me was that for $670/night you did not even get a robe or slippers to use. The design of the bathroom was strange. There is a tub in the main bathroom, but to shower you had to use the guest bathroom.

We called to the front desk to convey our disappointment about the condition, size and lack of amenities in the suite. A very nice person named "Brie" said that there was a larger suite available for a "nominal charge. " She checked with the general manager and said the "nominal charge" would be an additional $250/night! We said that adding $1000 to our bill was unacceptable, so she suggested we take a standard room. Why would we do that?

We headed to the pool and couldn't believe that they use the cheapest of cheap chaise lounges; the kind with plastic straps across the frame that often break. Yes, many of them had broken straps in stragetic places, if you know what I mean. Instead of eating and balancing food on my lap, I decided to go over to the poolside restaurant for lunch. The decor is very low-end with cheap furniture and a basic sunshade overhead. I ordered a cobb salad. The waiter brought it to me in a plastic take-out bowl complete with plastic lid. I said, "Doesn't it come on a plate?" He replied, "This is basically fast food here." I was flabergasted. I remembered many a lovely lunch I had at the Mirage poolside restaurant under a gorgeous palapa served in style. The salad wasn't very good; using common mixed greens that were not crisp.

Overall I have to say that this property has somehow managed to fool the general population into believing it is a nice upscale property when it's not. Your money is much better spent on properties that care about their reputation and offer some value like the Bellagio, Venetian, Mirage and others.

The one positive I can say is that the breakfast buffet had good variety, quality and value.

We stayed at the Paris hotel in Las Vegas for 5 days over the weekend of September 20, 2008. The first thing about the hotel is it's great location. Directly across the street from the Bellagio, the Paris is in walking distance (long walks, Vegas style) to Caeser's Palace, New York, MGM Grand, etc. Connected directly to Bally's, the hotel offers first class accomodations and finishes.

We spent the weekend with friends, and each day enjoyed the weather by the pool. The pool area is extremely well done, sitting on the roof in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower. Because of its location, surrounded on two sides by the hotel, and the Eiffel Tower on the 3rd side, you are able to enjoy the sun, and also use the shade from the buildings and tower when the tan starts to turn to burn. Well laid out, with plenty of room to have private conversations, and more chairs than were ever used. The pool service was fantastic, with a different waitress each day, all of them were personable and very attentive to our needs. I read on this site that drinks by the pool were expensive, however, 16 oz. Bud Lights were $7 each, or a bucket of 5 for $30 (of which we consumed many). As usual in Vegas, there were no hassles, no ID required, plentiful towels, and an outdoor restaurant (try the nachos).

Check-in took us 5 minutes. Request one of the remodeled rooms, as there is a great difference in the quality of the finish. While all rooms I was in were clean, our remodeled room was beautiful and included a 42" plasma HD TV, while the non-remodeled rooms were slightly dated and had a 27" tube TV (not that you'll spend much time watching).

Breakfast took a wait in a line at the buffet restaurant, some of the smaller specialty shops weren't as bad. We found ourselves going off site all but one day to avoid the lines. There are many assorted shops available, a quality cigar stand, a bloody mary and screwdriver booth in one of the shop halls during the mornings. We listened to a fantastic rock band at one of the bars one night, and found all of the dining areas to be well staffed.

Checkout, of course, was painless, done on your TV in the room. Our limo driver, Brad, was unbelievable. If you want a limo service, contact me and I will give you his number. Funny, friendly and quiet when you wanted him to be.

All in all, a great trip and a great stay. We would go back next time just for the pool area.
