“Paris at New Year”

Paris Las Vegas

We stayed at Paris for 5 nights over Christmas and New Year; 4th time in Vegas and a return trip to Paris. Thoroughly enjoyed our last stay and was pleased to see that not too much had changed, for the worse.

Arrived late at approx half past midnight. Long queue at check in with some rather disgruntled guests looking either to check in or out, only 3 check in desks open. Some guests said they had been waiting for an hour; maybe it was their complaining that speeded up the process as we were through in 20 mins. Management said they were short staffed.

Room on 21st floor, not one of the newly renovated ones, view not particularly inspiring [Hey, how much time do you spend in your room when in Vegas so the view was no problem]
but it was clean, well appointed and during our stay, well serviced by housekeeping [Contrast to our last trip to Vegas in 12/06 staying in Bellagio where the room was filthy and housekeeping was v poor]. Bathroom was nice and big and my wife was pleased that the hairdryer was decent!

The other member of our party was initially on the 8th floor but check in were good to their word and had her transferred up to the 21st floor the following day; nice room wth a strip view.

All in all, staff were helpful and polite.

No problems on check out, the express service via in room TV worked fine.

Casino was lucky for us, no problems getting drinks. Tip......expect to pay a lot for drinks at the bar. $30 for 3 gin and tonics; from the waitresses in the casino, say $6, do the math!

Took breakfast most mornings in the cafe st louis, good food, good service. Alternatives were the buffett or the various coffee shops or creperie.

The thing we like about Paris is that it's well sited on the strip , spend a few days mooching up the strip, the next, down the strip. The link to Ballys next door is convenient for the monorail link.

Were in Vegas to experience the New Year festivities. Have experienced 'large' events in London and Edinburgh and have to say that Vegas was on a par, fantastic fireworks and really nice, happy, even if inebriated partygoers. Had dinner at Smith and Wolensky's on New Years eve, they serve steak to end all arguments, highly recommended. Have eaten before at the steakhouse in Paris which was awesome as well.

The only problem we had was trying to get back into Paris on New Years Eve. There was no advance notification given to guests that there would be access restrictions that evening (other hotels, like Bellagio had notices everywhere). As a result, there was an unholy crush to try and get back in and there was only one access through the barriers operating; at one point, mounted police came through the crowd to ease things. Security weren't allowing famillies and children over the barriers even when they were able to produce room keys.

I guess it's all part of the experience but maybe next time, the management could do to revisit its' planning.

Anyhow, that won't detract too much from what was overall, a really enjoyable stay.

Will undoubtedly be back in Vegas and would thoroughly recommend any one to stay here, good price, good location, great hotel. We'll stay again.

“Paris Las Vegas? More like Motel 6 Las Vegas!”

Paris Las Vegas

Jan 10, 2008
5/20 found this review helpful

We were lured to Paris Las Vegas by it's smaller size, and by online reviews which raved about the service and quality of the rooms. Sadly, neither is true of this hotel/casino. Here's a list of our problems in a short 2 day stay.

1. Not so sweet suite - We asked to upgrade from the standard room to a suite, we were told that we could do that for just $85.00, which seemed like a deal because we were told the standard price for the suite was $550.00 per night. We were slightly disappointed in the size when we opened the door, for a suite it's the smallest one I've ever seen. In fact, it's not even as large as a large regular hotel room in many hotels. Add to that fact the small 25" non digital useless TV, and we were glad that most of our entertainment would be outside the room.

2. Holy bedsheet Batman! That's right, holes in our bedsheets. The first set was fine, but when they changed the sheets they put on sheets with holes in them, large enough holes that my wife's toes got caught in one as she slept, lol. If these are the sheets for the 550 a night room, I wonder what the standard rooms get, plastic tarps?

3. Shocked again - The outlet by the sink in the room tripped it's GFCI breaker any time something got plugged into the bottom plug.

4. We wanted to see a show in the hotel during our stay, so we went to the shows and tours desk when we first arrived. We were informed that the cost of the show was $58.00 per person, and no discounts were available. We told the person we would wait and come back, she informed us that we'd better hurry because the show sells out quickly, we distinctly got the feeling of a hard sell being pushed. We went back to the same desk a few hours later, a different person was working, and we inquired if show tickets were still available. She said they were, and she asked if we were staying at the hotel. When we said yes she said we get a discount of two for one.

5. Our second night no turndown service, no towels were picked up, no nothing.

6. Worst of all, when we presented this same list to the front desk as we checked out, it was blown off completely. The clerk said "I'll pass it along to the manager". No apologies, no nothing.

Not only will we never stay at Paris Las Vegas again, we'll probably never go to Vegas again at all due to this experience. The only good thing was that we only lost $6.00 in their casino!

“Faux Paris”

Paris Las Vegas

If driving to Paris, the first choice is Valet or Self-Park. We chose to self park which was a mistake - the trip from the car park to the reception desk and then back to the lifts was a very long one with no sign of a porter anywhere (we had a lot of luggage as this was one stop on a trip) and it was through the fake Parisian street scene so involved battling through the people -a bad start (so valet park...)

On checking in they offered an upgrade from a 380 sq ft room to a 750 sq ft room. They wanted $80 a night. That seemed okay to me - I did ask for a room facing Bellagio - but was turned down - perhaps ask to get breakfast thrown in or perhaps an upgrade to a higher class of room for the same price. I don't have any fancy Player's club status, so others may be luckier.

The room itself was good - it had a slight view of the Arc de Triomphe and of the MGM which was okay. Very spacious, big bathroom with sizeable spa bath. The upgrade was worth it I thought. There was a fridge, but strangely, no minibar.

The Parisian theme was fun - but if you've been to Paris don't expect too much authenticity, it is "Paris, Las Vegas" not "Paris, France" - the "Pont Alexander III Bridge" is a good example of this...

The casino itself is lit in a perma-dull daylight and is a bit confusing to find you way through initially.

In short, I'd recommend Paris - but I'd also look at Bellagio and Venetian as other truly central strip locations.

“Ooh la la!!”

Paris Las Vegas

We stayed at Paris with 4 other couples over the last weekend in December. Paris is a beautiful hotel with a compact but wonderful casino. The rooms were spacious. We were not in updated in rooms but liked them very much. The linens were worn but that was minor. We really enjoyed the location. This hotel connects with Bally's so it was very easy to move around and sample the gambling!

One item to point out - there was no "check-in" line. There was a sign labeled check-out. That was actually the check-in/out line! It moved quickly and check-in took about 20 minutes. We arrived about 11am. Three of the five rooms were ready - two couples paid for upgraded views. Those rooms were not ready until much later in the afternoon.

We will be back to the Paris Hotel!!

“Decent Stay on Comp”

Paris Las Vegas

Jan 8, 2008

This was probably my fourth stay at Paris on a comp. For the Harrah's properties, this is probably their best. Caesars is good, but you have to watch which tower they'll book you in. At least with Paris there's a guarantee of what kind of basic room you'll receive.

Parking is a decent walk from the garage to the hotel elevators and registration. Check-in always seems as if it's insanely longer and more time consuming than it needs to be at Harrah's properties. It's as if the employees at check-in are starting from scratch looking for your reservation. Regardless it's expected at this point and I took my room keys.

Found the room to be typical of the Paris, clean, modern and stylish accomodations. The bathroom is all marble making a very comfortable experience.

The bedding is kind of average. Nothing like the chain hotels that are in a race to have the best bedding. Paris' is just average with a sheet and a blanket.

As far as the hotel's common areas, it seems that they can become very crowded with people. Especially at breakfast time as the restaurants are full and the buffet line is out the door. The guestroom floors are nice and quiet, but the casino level can seem to be very loud and congested.

I've found the Cox internet service to be intermittent. It can be frustrating if trying to stay online for a long time. Internet access is in the $12-13 range.
