This was a mixed bag, to be sure. The rooms are certainly large and nicely appointed. The view of the mountains from our room was spectacular. Though we didn't use the pool, it's lovely and huge. Did use the hot tub which could've been hotter but was warm and bubbly and after a long day walking on the strip was perfect. The grounds are beautiful and staff was invariably pleasant and helpful. So why wasn't I thrilled. Let's start in the bathroom. It's enormous with a jacuzzi tub and separate shower. But on getting into the shower, it appeared that there was black mildew growing where the "seat" built into the shower met the floor. Which was creepy. On closer inspection, there was simply no grout there at all, those were unfilled gaps I was seeing. Also kind of creepy. The lighting was another issue. While there were five lights in the bedroom/living area, with all of them turned on, it was still dim. But the bathroom was the worst. The lighting was behind a cove, and even with the lighted makeup mirror, it was difficult to see well enough to even put on makeup. The hairdryer was one of those small travel-type dryers with two settings - burning hot tornado or light breeze cool. It made it really difficult to use and I very much regretted not bringing my own dryer, though in general, we stay at Marriotts and they have much higher quality dryers. Another issue was transportation to the strip. I found either on the conference brochure or their web site (can't remember which) that there was a shuttle to the strip. I am SO glad I called because this shuttle, during the week, goes 3 times a day. So you can't come and go at your leisure and if you go in the morning, you are pretty much trapped there all day unless you're willing to spend $50 (I'm told) on a cab. This is definitely not a hotel I'd ever stay in without a rental car. The casino seems small and shabby. It didn't seem at all up to par with the strip hotels, and certainly not to the casino at the red rock resort which is only about 10-15 minute from the Marriott. We were there for a business meeting and so didn't have a choice on where to stay. I have to say though that I would never choose to stay at this hotel. Too many negatives and way too many other choices.

As a former resident of Las Vegas (Summerlin specifically), I was pretty familiar with the JW Marriott and was excited to stay there as a tourist. I'd never been in the rooms before and opted to stay in a Jr. Suite. The size of the suite was ample, but at $309.00/night I couldn't help but be extremely critical of a few issues. The first being the TV. I thought at this caliber of hotel, all the TV's would be upgraded to flat screens with high definition picture quality but the TV in the suite was quite old and outdated. I've stayed in Holiday Inn's with better TVs. Second, there's a fee for internet access--I find this absolutely appalling when the rates are what they are. Third and most nit picky of all, the armoire was scratched and the couch was slightly stained and very faded. These are very easy fixes and I expect that from this hotel.
What I loved about the hotel outweighed the bad. The bed was the best feature as it was extremely comfortable and well dressed. The bathroom was fabulous with a large jacuzzi tub and rainfall shower. I loved the walk in closet and the french doors. The ceiling fan was a nice touch. I ordered room service one night and was very pleased. And lastly, the courtyard/pool area is simply breathtaking.
If I were to stay here again, I think I would choose a regular room as I didn't feel the living room furniture and setup were that great.
Overall, I was comfortable and happy and just slightly disappointed.

We originally decided to stay here because of my husband's rewards miles which allowed us to stay for free. We figured we'd try it even though it was off the strip mainly because it was suppose to be right next to the tram.

When we first arrived we were greeted by the friendly staff. Check-in was a little crowded and I think you need to be aware of this since it's near the convention center and draws large business crowds. That weekend there wasn't a huge event happening and it was still a little crowded.

The rooms were very nice and clean although your standard room with bed and tiny desk but the bathroom/shower was very nice. We decided to eat at the restaurant/bar downstairs and the food was absolutely delicious. The decor of the entire hotel was much nicer that I expected and I was very impressed. And since it has no casino it was nice and smoke free.

The tram is across the hotel parking lot and convention parking lot. It's a 5 minute walk. Not as close as some made it seem but not far either and since you're not staying in a huge hotel which takes you 20 minutes just to get through the lobby, it ends up being faster too. It was so convenient getting to MGM from this location in a quick 15 minutes.

Checkout was easy too. Overall very pleasant experience and we'd consider staying again.

My family and I stayed at this resort for a weekend on our way to Utah. It was a fabulous property that had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The room was spacious enough to fit a roll-away bed. The beds were Marriott quality--- heavenly comforters and goosedown feather pillow. The room was clean! The property itself was huge, with a great swimming pool, volleyball area, meandering walkways, etc. We purchased a package that was advertised at the check-in counter for an extremely reasonable rate that allowed entrance/use of the workout facility and spa for two people and internet use and the bottles of water in the room. They have a gift shop/store, restaurants (one that serves buffet), and a casino. The great thing is that there is a golf course nearby and another casino in the vicinity. It is not on the strip, so there is no traffic to deal with. The surrounding area is quiet and beautiful. We would stay here again!

We took a weekend trip to Las Vegas with our two young children under 7. The JW Marriott is exactly what we had hoped for. It was a huge property with gigantic rooms. It was only about 7 minutes off of the strip. Self Parking was right by the entrance to the Spa Tower which was very nice.

One odd thing that seem misplaced was the casino. I'm assuming they farmed it out as the restaurants and the casino seemed so un-Marriott like.

We had the breakfast buffet at the restaurant closest to the front desk (can't remember the name right now). They had omelette station, waffle maker, and fresh pancakes. Other than that, the buffet overall was pretty disappointing as far as selection goes.

We loved the gigantic pool. It was 3 1/2 feet deep in the majority of the pool which was perfect for me 7 year old, but a bit too deep for my 5 year old. There are two hottubs as well. The one closest to the towel cabana was lukewarm, the other one was the perfect temperature.

Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel if want to be in Las Vegas but not necessarily be in the craziness of the Strip.
