I chose to stay at this property for an overnight Valentine's getaway. I am very familiar with it , and received a terrific "locals' rate" when I booked. We checked in late in the evening; still the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Even a random bellhop we encountered in the elevator told us to have a nice visit.

We were very impressed with the room at first glance: It was incredibly spacious, on the sixth (top) floor with a small balcony overlooking, well, essentially nothing, but it was a nice amenity anyway. A small mirrored bar area with a coffee maker was also featured, as was a walk-in closet with a wall safe.

The bathroom is gigantic with a "rain head" shower (as well as a regular shower head) featuring a tiled seating area, a large jacuzzi tub, a speaker in the ceiling that allows you to hear programming from the TV in the guest room, plenty of lighting, a lighted makeup mirror, a laundry basket for towels, and an old-school telephone in the water closet.

The negatives: Things could have been a bit cleaner. The vent in the water closet was visibly clogged with dust. One of the two faucets at the sink had a hole in it which shot water toward the bathroom mirror and all over the counter when it was turned on. The "rain head" shower head -- even when not being used -- dripped a good amount of water on you whenever the regular shower head was turned on -- rather annoying. There was visible dirt and a couple of black hairs in the bathtub, as well as a large spot of dried urine on the floor in front of the toilet. The bottle of hand lotion provided was only half full, indicating that it had not been switched out following the previous guest. There were not nearly enough towels in the bathroom (only two of each size and a bathmat). And while the bed itself was comfy, the small pillows were not and ruined what might otherwise have been a terrific sleep.

The TV is a little outdated and the remote difficult to maneuver in a darkened room. Also, the ceiling fan was very noisy -- so much so we could not turn it on when we went to bed for fear it would keep us up all night.

Had drinks and dessert in the Irish pub downstairs -- both were terrific. The house band, The Wild Celts, were performing and made things a lot of fun.

Overall, a great stay. Just a few minor quibbles. But we are looking forward to returning for another visit in the future.

We made our first trip to Vegas for my husband to attend a conference at the Marriott. This is a very nice hotel - beautiful large bathroom and comfy bed. They could update the TVs and toiletries, but we got a great rate due to business travel. The Irish pub in the hotel has a wonderful happy hour on weekdays, and the appetizers are terrific. If you have a car or are willing to taxi, Lindo Michoacan is delicious Mexican not 6 miles away. This hotel is in Summerlin, quite a distance from the strip. They do provide a shuttle to Fashion Show Mall, and you can then walk, or take a bus up and down the strip ($7 for 24 hours).

  • Liked — The spa and Irish pub.
  • Disliked — TV

When I travel to Vegas I usually stay here. As a matter of fact, whenever I take someone there for the first time...they always go back!!! I was a guest most recently for NYE and once again it was a wonderful stay. The rooms are huge, the hotel always honors my requests and it keeps me coming back. It is off strip and is very quiet. This is the type of property that I prefer. I think that it is very soothing to return to my quiet room after a day on the noisy strip. I will be returning this June to have a spa weekend with some girlfriends. If there is any complaint about the property I would say that it is the $25 fee to use the spa fitness center. Other than that I have none.

  • Liked — Large room, beautiful bathroom, great bedding
  • Disliked — Exttra fee for fitness center

We stayed at the JW Marriott on a buisness/retreat visit. I was concerned that the hotel wouldn't work for casual business meetings but we had no problems. Big, well layed out rooms, excellent but not over the top restaurant, and great golf. This place is just about perfect for business/golf outings. I can't comment on the spa but other people thought it was very good.

This was our second visit to the JW Las Vegas. We paid about $250 per night for suite that was very large with sitting room and full master suite and an additional powder room.

The hotel works for us as it is not on the strip and just over 10 minute drive to the strip, we just park at one of the hotels and take it from there. There is no smell of smoke in the the spa tower where we stayed which is not the tower over the casino.

The room was fine but showing its age just a bit since we were here 5 years ago. Still very nice and large but a bit sterile. Temps were in the 30s at night and the whole place was quite cold including our room. We needed to keep the thermostates at 90 just to get it to the 72 and that was right under the heat vent. Over by the windows it was very cold. Also no flat screens and pretty lame picture quality. It is time to upgrade the TVs here guys.

Everyone we encoutered was friendly and professional and more than pleased to assist us with any request. We found only one bathrobe and few other minor items in need on arrival and everyone responded quickly and in a very friendly manner.
The room service breakfast food was ok but a bit greasy, this changed on our third day, maybe a new crew. I asked for a paper on Sunday am and a bellman brought it to the room in minutes.

This is a great spot to base your Las Vegas experience if you don't want to stay on the strip and want a solid hotel with professional staff.

  • Liked — Big rooms, great staff and short drive to strip
  • Disliked — Cold rooms, old TVs, food could be better
