“Great Location, stay in the North Tower”

Bally's Las Vegas

I stayed on a Sunday and Monday night and got a great rate on the hotel's website. Check-in was smooth and agent was reasonably friendly. I was asked if I wanted to upgrade and inquired on cost. However, I decided I was in Vegas to see sights, not sit in a room so declined before even hearing the price. I think the agent upgraded me anyway as she told me she was putting me in the North Tower. I read on this site to try to stay in the North Tower and when I inquired the agent confirmed the North Tower is the better one. I was amazed by the size and decor of the room I received for the price! Very comfortable and was a great view from the 24th floor.

Very central location on the Strip and that alone pretty much makes it worth considering Bally's - though admittedly location isn't everything. If you're room isn't clean and comfortable, location probably doesn't matter much.

Yes, Bally's does overcharge and nickel-and-dime for just about everything, which I suppose helps make up for the low room price. Room service and restaurants are very expensive to what you get - you're in a tourist market and have to decide if the convenience is worth the extra cash. You will have to pay for use of the in-room safe; I guess you'll have to consider if it's worth the $3/day to use the safe. Yes, the bottle of water in the room is $4 if you take it or drink it; walk down the hallway to the machine and save $2. Ultimately, Bally's isn't doing anything every other hotel is doing and I personally just accept these things as part of my vacation funds. However, I also am usually inclined to find alternatives - they're out there if you look.

Room was always well cleaned by housekeeping, though I also made sure to leave a $2 tip/day. I've found just a few bucks isn't that much to a vacation budget and makes for a great stay. If you're going to spend money on a vacation, is it that big a deal to leave a few bucks for someone to clean after you, especially if it makes for a better stay?

I can't speak to condition of the South Tower, but I would definitely stay again, especially if I can get the North Tower (based on what others here say and my experience in the North Tower)..

Stayed at Bally's for two nights (08/20-08/22) as I had two free midweek nights. Paid $25 extra per night to upgrade to North Tower. I was scared to stay in South Tower based on reviews. The room was clean though some of the furniture was banged up. The hotel was a little smokey and the building and pool were very 70s. I did enjoy the spa and thought the staff was wonderful. I made friends with several dealers and pitt bosses. The location is fantastic and I love Paris which is conviently connected. Overall, The price was right but wouldn't go out of my way to stay there again. I stayed at Paris last time and loved it. I am staying in a Go Room at the Flamingo in Nov and hope to have a better experience.

My Wife, Son, His Friend and I Stayed At Bally's 7/22 -7/25 2007, I Must Admit We Really Enjoyed Our Stay. The Rooms Were Large, Clean, And Comfortable. After Reading Some Of The Reviews, I Don't Understand What They Were Expecting.
I Recommend Bally's To Anyone Who Want A Hotel At Center Strip, For A Reasonable Rate With A Lot Of Attraction Within Walking Distance.

“First Time In Vegas”

This was our first time in Las Vegas. We are in our early 30's and went with my parents. My dad is a slot machine freak and goes to Atlantic City regularly so we thought this would be a great trip for him. But, sadly, by the end, we all realized for the flight distance, that Vegas isn't much better than Atlantic City. Plus, the slots are super tight. My dad is willing to pour money into the machines, so it isn't that he plays $20 and expects to win thousands.

As far as Bally's is concerned, the hotel is nice - if you stay in the North Tower. I read bad things about the South Tower but can't say it is true, as both of us got to stay in the North Tower. Unfortunately, the front desk clerk my husband and I had wanted us to pay $100 extra for this "upgrade". Luckily, my parents were being waited on right beside us and their clerk told them they could stay in the North Tower for free. When I heard this, I informed our clerk, who didn't seem too happy about this, but relented and put us in the North Tower. The rooms were very nice, bathroom nice, toiletries replenished daily. I do feel Vegas nickels and dimes you for anything they consider an add-on. Bally's charged us $3.00 per day for use of the safe. They know everyone is going to use it, so it is just a money maker for them. We joined the gym for 4 days, which cost us $65 per person. The gym is okay for a few days, not the greatest, but they did provide water, juice, apples and bananas in the spa. You could also use the spa free of charge - the showers, toiletries, steam room, dry sauna, and 2 jacuzzis.

The connection to Paris was nice but the hallway back and forth was so crowded with people, it made it very difficult to walk through at times. The food is WAY overpriced - $4.00 for a bottle of water in your room, $3.00 for coffee, $10 for a few pieces of lettuce, etc. We ate at Bally's buffet, it was adequate for a night, especially with the $5/off per person coupon we had. We ate at Le Burger, which was overpriced for burgers, but they were good. The Carnival buffet at Rio was huge and good, plus we had another $5/off coupon. The seafood buffet at Rio was $37/per person and the line was huge. I guess it would be worth it if you love lobster, for us, it wasn't worth the line or the cost. The best deal we found was a block down from Ballys at Ellis Island. We walked there for breakfast after our first day of eating at the Sidewalk Cafe at Ballys. For eggs and coffee, our bill was $60, so I knew we had to find an alternative. Ellis Island was it - they have french toast for $2.95, a 10 oz sirloin, eggs, toast and potatoes for $6.95. They also have a NY strip, eggs, toast, and potatoes for $3.95, but this was smaller and a little fatty. The 10 oz sirloin was all meat and very good quality. Coffee is also only $.95 here.

We lounged around the pool at Bally's every day - they provide towels free of charge. The chairs are a little old and uncomfortable, but it was so hot the week we were there, we made the best of it and only stayed out 2 hours at the most. The drinks are way overpriced around the pool.

We also got free tickets to see Jubilee as we signed up for the Total Rewards card. The show was okay, the little acts in between the major acts were the best. I wouldn't pay money to see this show.

Overall the trip was okay, but we most likely won't go back. I'd rather lay by a beach.

Spent three nights here 8/15-8/18. Check in at the airport was quick and our request for North Tower rooms were met although they couldn't put us on the floor I wanted (16, the first stop on the elevator so you don't need to make stops on other floors)

Our room wasn't ready so we needed to check out bags at the hotel. I've never had to wait to do this at any other hotel (vegas or otherwise) but this process took over 15 minutes---just to drop off bags. They bellhops seemed confused. However, to be honest, when we did get our room and called down for our bags they were delivered in under 5 minutes.

Our room was clean, but tired. The furniture had chips, the carpet was a little worn, and the lighting and bathroom fixtures had seen better days. The bed however was pretty comfortable and everything in the room worked well.

Common areas of the hotel were fine but smokey---even by vegas standards. I'm guessing the ventilation system is much older and probably less advanced then those at the newer hotels and you can tell.

The pool was ok--not great but not bad either. It's a lesser walk then some other places I've stayed. I wasn't crazy about the music they were playing but that's a personal preference.

This is the 5th Vegas hotel i've stayed in and where this hotel stands out is in it's location. It's connected to Paris so it's like having two hotels and one. Go out the front door and Bellagio and Caesars are right across the street. To the right are Bills and the Flamingo. What I really liked though is there is a side door on the low level (where the shops are) which puts you literally across the street from a convenience store, a decent "blue collar" bar, and Battista's hole in the hole (recommend highly for dinner). The same set of doors puts you about a 7 minute walk from Ellis Island Casino (when you want to get some "old vegas" feel) and the Westin Causarina --4 minute walk--which has some really good happy hour gambling.

I'd stay here again but only if I got a good rate and only if it was a boys trip--i don't think I'd stay here with my wife.

This hotel is owned by Harrah's and I've noticed that they have REALLY tightened up the video poker and video blackjack machines. if these are important to you, you should stay in a hotel owned by MGM/Mirage----they still offer you a fighting chance....
