Just returned from Las Vegas and spent a great deal of time researching hotels on this site. Wanted to return the favor. Finally was able to obtain a good deal at Bally's. We arrived around midnight and when checking in at that time couldn't get a room with a great view (important since this was my first visit to Vegas). The hotel is about centre strip. Great location. Nice clean hotel. there really wasn't a great deal of interaction with hotel staff so cannot comment on service. Their buffet according to conversations I overhead is one of the best on the strip (I did not try any other hotel buffets). Overall if you have an opportunity to stay at Bally's go for it!

I stayed at the Bally's from Sept. 21st-Sept.26th and it was just Ok. Problem is if you land in Las Vegas earlier than 3 P.M. you will probably get a room in the old section like we did. We got in at 10 A.M. and of course without paying for an upgrade we were told a newer room was not going to be available until between 3-5 p.m. So being totally exhausted we took a room in the old section. First off our view was a roof, which they did inform us when we took the room, but the problem with that is the lighting in the rooms are horrible and other patrons that had a view of the strip said the light coming in from that really helped. I had a very hard time ironing, reading etc....We had one bulb burned out and I called housekeeping which they very promptly brought one up to us and she said everyone complains about the lighting in the rooms.
Basically everything in the room was old and mostly stained. We did not spend all that much time in the room so I didn't bother requesting for a room change. Also be prepared for a long hike to the pool, as nice as it is. I see where alot of people complain about checking out and long lines. Well we actually checked out the night before we were leaving and all we had to do was leave our keys in our room..much easier and quicker. Also be prepared to pay $3.00 a day for safe and $1.25 for every call regardless of making local calls or using a calling card....it all adds up. And whatever you do don't open the bottled water up in your bathroom because it is $4.50 a bottle!!!!
I think my next trip I will try another hotel and then have more to compare to.

I've stayed here in June of 2001 and the hotel accomodations were good. I've stayed in the standard room and it was okay. I didn't use the front desk at all so I cannot comment on that feature. But the room service was pretty good, everyday, they would change all the linens and pillows for you.
The only problem with the hotel is that it has two sides or wings to the building. In order to go to their gym, you would have to walk from one end of the casino to the other end just for the gym. That would be the only problem but other than that, our stay was good.

Stayed at Bally's from 9.30-10.3. Upon arrival the first thing I noticed was that the revolving doors were filthy. During the entire stay I never saw anyone clean the doors. We arrived in Las Vegas on a 8 a.m. flight and after picking up car, we attempted to check in at Bally's around 10:00 a.m. The registration staff are very curt and abrasive. The first thing they want to ram down your throat is "would you like to upgrade to a renovated room for $20 more per night. Don't fall for it. We were told "you can not check in before 3:30 p.m." I asked since check out time was 11:00 a.m. was it possible that after having brunch our room might be ready. The staff person responded "you can try if you want to, but I doubt if your room will be ready. When we went to our room my first thought was what make them think $179 per night for 1980's decor was acceptable? I immediately called the front desk and told them that this is not the room shown on the internet. They told me the room on the internet is a "deluxe room." I told them I printed the internet page and brought it with me. My room was changed right away. If you stay in a renovated room, you will be pleased. The food at the Big Kitchen Buffet was like college cafeteria food. The food at Paris' Village Buffet was high quality and very tasty. If you have access to a car, take a 20 minute drive from the strip to see Red Rock Canyon. It ia a awesome scenic drive. You can go horseback riding and have a cowboy barbeque lunch. Well worth the trip.

Of the many times I've stayed in Las Vegas I would rate Ballys in the bottom two places. After "upgrading" our room, we found ourselves in a room with dirty carpeting and poor customer service. All I will say is never again will Ballys get any of my money.
