We stayed at Bally's for four days, over the 4th of July. When we arrived we were greeted to the sound of a renovating jackhammer that lasted for two days, all day, in the hotel lobby and most of the casino!! We were asked if we wanted to be upgraded to a room facing the Bellagio fountions for an extra $20.00 per night and that sounded great so we jumped on it. Turned out we could only see about 1/8 of the fountains (about like looking out your front window at your lawn sprinkler). Service? None to speak of. Casino staff need a raise to at least put smiles on their faces. They were all very unfriendly and left you with a feeling that you shouldn't be bothering them to even take your money. Cocktail waitresses, good luck in tracking one down, and yes, most of the time you'll be the one walking around looking for them instead of them looking for you. The bright spot was the Big Kitchen Buffet, the best in Vegas!! The location, although set way off the street is still a good one and right in the middle of the strip. Here's one more tip-- when you're booking your stay, not just at Bally's but anywhere in Vegas, book it through the hotel and not an internet travel site. The internet sites will get you a room and airfare but unless you book directly through the hotel don't expect to get the "advertised" freebee's like free shows, 2 for 1 specials, discount coupon books and the rest of what you have read. Check directly with the hotels first to see what they offer. Won't be doing Bally's again, to many other hotels, we just walked through during our stay, had staff that greeted you and treated you like you were one of their long time patrons will get my business.
