We arrived at Bally's at around 9 am on 7/11. We figured that a room would not be available so early on a Friday, so we checked our luggage with the bellman. The check-in line was open and the wait was about 5 minutes. The front desk staff was very pleasant and efficient. We asked for a North tower room (preferring a renovated room over a view), which was provided. We were advised to return later when the room was ready to pick up the keys.
We returned a little before noon and our room was ready. We were very pleased with the room. It was a non-smoking king, as requested, and had not a hint of smokiness. The location was on the12th floor, with another room only on one side of us and an emergency stairwell on the other side (It was nice and quiet throughout our stay). The room was large, clean, bright, and in great condition. At first we thought the mattress seemed too firm and we thought it was going to be uncomfortable, but we actually slept great. The bathroom was a comfortable size, with a tub/shower combo. The sundries included the basic shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap, and a compact wall mount Conair hairdryer. One thing we weren't used to was the $3 charge to use the room safe, oh well, guess it's worth it. Our view was basically of the back of the Paris. We could see a glimpse of the Paris Eiffel Tower between buildings and, standing at the window, an angled partial glimpse of the Bellagio fountains. Not a great view… we have had better, but we have also had worse!
I forgot about the long walk through the Avenue Shoppes/food court/sports bar area to get to Bally's pool. I’m glad I had a good cover-up! We were there around 1:15 (Friday) and the pool was busy, but not too crowded. We had no problem getting two lounge chairs in the sun. The music the DJ was playing seemed pretty loud, and it took a little getting used to when we were in the pool right in front of the speakers. Drink service was good, and the water temperature was perfect!
Bally's location on the strip is great, close to center, so it is convenient to Caesar's, Bellagio, Planet Hollywood, Flamingo, and much more. It's easy to head out one direction one day, and the other the next. We spent most of our gambling time at the Paris, and there are more dining options there, so the indoor connection is also a great plus.
We would stay at Bally's again.
